I have a John Deere 770 - I am adding a cab which I would like to have an operatable electric wiper, fan and maybe two overhead aux headlights. Is there any extra circuts built in to the 770 wiring? Or do I need to go from the battery and build another distribution/fuse box?
the charging system I beleive is a 20 amp alternator.

I'm not familiar with the aux electrical provisions on your JD 770, but would suggest you consider the 12V electrical heaters commonly used on UTV's available thru eBay: 12V UTV Heater Cab Cub Cadet Mule Ranger Gator RHINO - eBay (item 320499069924 end time Apr-02-11 18:28:26 PDT)

Hi....On my JD 455 I changed from a 20 amp to a JD 40 amp alternator....however in my case the 20 amp alternator was a permanant magnet alternator with external voltage regulator and the 40 amp alternator was like a regular automotive alternator with built in voltage regulator.
The electric heater is only a little better than 1000 btu's which is really not much of a heater but not bad for a defroster compared to a hot water heater properly plumbed into the cooling system. I have not installed my electric heater yet because I really haven't needed it yet ....but have tried it and the 40 amp alt can handle it.

I agree with Casey's point concerning the alternator. The 300Watt (1000 BTU) type electric heater I recommended is sized for UTV cabbed vehicles (like Rangers, Rhinos, Gators, etc.) that typically have 40 Amp (500Watt) sized alternators to keep up with the needed re-charging rate of the battery and support other additional loads (like headlights, cab lights, instruments, etc.)

You will need to add a new circuit/distribution panel-probably 30 amps and run it through a relay so it's only ON with the key. The factory wiring will not take all that extra load.

I will also suggest you forgo the electric heater and plumb in a heater core to the coolant system if you want/need heat.
