Electrical wiring question

   / Electrical wiring question #11
If both switch and outlet are same circuit, than by all means use the neutral from the gfci. But use the line side and not the load side of the gfci. The line side is before the gfci so the imbalance wont effect the gfci.
Line and load are marked on gfci. Line is power from the breaker.

Thanks all for the info. I'll use the neutral from the GFCI. Much easier than using the neutral from the lights that the switch controls.

Neutral needs to be in same cable as it's supply (or/and opposing switch legs).
'Point to point wiring' is not done in proper work.
Do not grab a neutral, run a new cable for conductor count.

I bought a WiFi light switch that requires a hot, neutral and ground wire. The switch I am replacing has a ground and hot wire only. I believe the neutral wires and ground wires are all connected to the same bar in the service panel. Could I connect a piece of white wire to the existing ground in the switch junction box and use that for the neutral wire to the new WiFi switch? Not sure if I am explaining this correctly.

There are other smart switches available that do not require neutral: LINK

The Broadlink TC2 reviewed in the article I attached does not require a hub.

Thats what i was referring to...bring up all 3 wires from gfci. Repower switch. Its the same circuit. But in reality its the same circuit...the same neutral
