A question that is a follow up to my emergency storm shelter exit,(5/12 /13).

I have 50' of 60"" corrugated pipe for the project on order. It weighs in at 55#/ ft. I'll get three sections. Ideally I will get 17 ' sections.

Question. What's the best technique to safely handle large diameter pipe? Can an attachment be fabricated to more safely handle the pipe? I have a
IH (model 374 )tractor/fel and a mini excavator ( Takeuchi TB016 ) both have a lifting capacity of approx 1000#s . Would wide nylon slings be best?

TIA

I have lift longer sections of culvert but a lot smaller and lighter then you are looking at. I used a 16' length of 4x4 hung off the excavator bucket. With the beam hanging level it was quick and easy to grab a section of pipe move it to and lower it in the ditch. Both ends of the 4x4 had short lengths of chain with hooks that I used to grab the ends of the culvert.

The photo is one I grabbed off the net.

We throw a strap around the middle of it and adjust it to hang level .

I had a lot of pipe to install so the beam was quicker once leveled. For three sections depending on how much room you have either way would work.
