Kioti CK30
I took the backhoe off of my CK30 today so I could remove a broken bolt for the front end loader support box. I got the backhoe off and unhooked the hydraulic lines. I had turned the tractor off to disconect the hydraulic lines. When I tried to start the tractor again it ran for about 5 seconds and cut out like I had pulled the fuel cutoff lever but I didn't. I tried several more times and it ran for a shorter and shorter time. Of course I was looking all over in between attempts trying to figure out what was going on. The fuel gauge read 1/2 tank. I filled up the fuel tank anyway and it took about 4 gallons. The owners manual says the capacity is 7 something gallons. It ran fine after I filled it to the top. Any ideas? Also the ignition switch is acting like there is a loose connection. Is there something that needs to be tightened on it?

There is a new clunking sound in the rear transaxle when I let the clutch out in low range. I haven't tried the other ranges. It's an hst. It did not clunk before I disconected the backhoe lines. I don't think the previous owner ever had the backhoe off of the tractor since he bought it new.

I have only run the tractor to move it about 20 feet so I can work on it since I bought it several weeks ago. It has been raining like snot since I bought it and a lot of stuff has been going on that prevented me from playing, I mean working on the tractor.

Thanks for the parts Rick at Wallace Tractors.

How is your backhoe plumbed? if your tractor is not equipped with optional hyd. remotes (lever by lift control lever) than there is a valve under the right fender that you must move to allow the oil to flow.

I would suggest you check the fuel filter to see if it is getting plugged and the shutoff cock to make sure it is in the open position and not the bleed position or partially off. It is located under the hood next to the fuel tank.

As far as the “clunk”, I don’t know to what degree (loudness) you hear it, but on my CK30-HST with the backhoe off I can hear the PTO gears, even though it is disengaged. With the backhoe on it somehow muffles or reflects the sound and I don’t notice it as much. Hope this helps.

Bluechip. There are one set of remotes that come out the back that the backhoe works off of. What does the valve under the fender look like and is it close to anything? Is it inline with the backhoe remotes?

Steverino. The bowl looks full and the filter has s little debris in it but not much. I have a new one that Rick sent me in a filter set so I suppose I might as well change it and see if that helps. I changed the air filter already because it was really bad and it was easy. The shutoff cock is in the on position and not the off or air position. That was the first thing I looked at.

Thanks guys.

I believe if it's like mine, there is what appears to be a 3/8" shaft that can be turned cw or ccw. My understanding is when the lines are disconnected from the back hoe it must be opened to allow oil to flow and not build up excessive pressure. My understanding of the valve...

That's my understanding as well PaPaGus. If you're not sending pressure back to the backhoe or 3 point hitch, you have to change the position of that nut/shaft to allow flow back to tank/xmsn.

I think I found the small shaft you are talking about. It is not very long. It goes into a metal housing that the rear remotes attach to. It's about a foot or so to the front of the tractor from the remote ends. It looks like there should be some kind of key or lever that should be attached to it. Why isn't this stuff in the owners manual?

I forgot to ask. Which way do I turn it and how much?

Turn it all the way till it stops.
It may be diffcult if it has not been turned before you may have to use a wrench on it I think a 3/8 will work.
I am not sure which way to turn it but which ever way it will turn make you go until it stops again.
Don't run your machine until you get this valve closed.
The fuel guage problem, I beleave it is going to be the sending unit, we have replace several of them on the eairly machines.
You can take it out and clean the contacts and some times that will help.
