Engine - Had to Giggle

Took a minute tonight to "peak" at my 32 horse 'Bota engine (after I changed the oil in my wife's Accord) and had to laugh. That thing seems so powerful but man is it small and all the stuff (air filter etc) around it is tiny. It is amazing that these tractors do the work they do and when you look at the tiny air filters you would swear they could hardly do anything!!!:laughing:

You should see the BX engines. I can't think of any word to describe it other than "cute," especially the little baby alternator and radiator.

Yeah, but the Honda motor is 4 times the HP, runs and twice the max rpm and has a large fraction of owners who will NEVER change the air filter in the cars' entire life.

If your bota motor was put into the Accordion, the acceleration level would be so low that cars would bump draft you from the moment you entered the xway until the next exit.

If the Honda motor was put into the bota, the hour meter would need extra digits because its so quiet, you'd forget to shut it off.:laughing:

Yea - I had an excavation crew working at my place that used a B7610. The engine was half the size of my 16HP riding mower. Hard to believe that it is a mid-20 HP engine. My L4200 engine at least looks like it could make 45HP.

They say when you buy a tractor all your buying is a power plant that can move itself to the job. When they say size matters all they are talking about is HP not physical size. :laughing:

I can remember when Honda use to make a riding mower that had what looked like a small car engine in it. It had a little radiator, alternator, and even plastic fan, just like a car but smaller. But then again that Honda mover and your kubota aren't going to get anywhere near 100mph like that Accord can.

I was shocked when I was at the dealer and popped the hood on my soon to be BX25......Man that engine is small (but powerful :thumbsup.

I can't explain but, they are 23HP. I believe the BX23 was the first series of BX TLB tractors. Then came the BX24, then our BX25. Just each successive series but the same 23HP engine.

The bigger tractors are just as funny. The first time I opened the hood of my M8540 (85 HP tractor), I laughed at the size of the engine. Over half of what is under the hood is air, battery, radiator, fan, airbox, etc. The engines appear to be fairly tall (big stroke I assume) but they are short, dinky things. They are amazing...
