How true!
I was cleaning up my unit, and I noticed several drips of engine oil on garage floor, under the drain hole at the left rear of the tub. On further scrutiny, lo and behold all FOUR of the hose clamps (two to the oil cooler, one of which I found loose before, and two to the oil filter) had loosened over a Summer of busy use. An oily dusty residue had accumulated on each where small oil leaks trapped dust and chaff.
They were a b**ch to secure again. With some rearrangement of two of the clamps, I was able to get a long screwdriver through the openings in the rear of the tub and tighten them securely. For the other two, there was no such luck with a screwdriver. However, I did find that a 9/32" hex drive bit fits the hose clamp hex screws. Using a small right angle ratcheting hex bit driver, it was no problem to tighten these two buggers securely.
Thought I would pass on this tip to include in our "e-manual," since removing the engine to get at those screws was not an option. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
