my opinion is that as long as you are easily impressed and make the assumption that everybody else is as easily impressed as yourself then I can accept it as proof.

unfortunately I'm not all that impressed.

Facts impress me.;) Not fiction . If Having facts to back something up is what you would call "easily impressed''. Then, I'm easly imperssed. Impress me with more facts. Got any plain o'l dino facts to imperss me with

Well, each time I took the sample, it was about 2 ounces, so I added 2 new
ounces back. I check the level periodically and have never found it to be low. I guess I've probably added a quart of oil in 2 ounce increments over the past 3 years. That's not much:)

anthony

Uh, didn't you add back a qt at every filter change, too?

Or was there only like 1/2 qt in the pan at that 95k mark.... ;)

Kick- At least he posted something here.

If that is not impressive by your standards, please by all means show me some dino oil in a everyday car/truck, same FF filter etc with that duration. Please do not show the Detroit diel trucks etc since that is not even in the same league.

To me, anyway your cut it that is great just show that UOA test #'s.

Hi Kenmac- Doing okay. I try to come out here what I can. Hope you also had a good holiday and a great ?New Years!

Still love the oil threads...:D :D :D

You know, this was not intended to be about impressing people.
I passed that information on because it helped save me thousands of dollars and many hours of work. I hope others can enjoy the same savings. I'm not an amsoil dealer, in fact I'm just a professional musician (with an engineering degree)
I'd also like to point out that you're right about seeing what the future brings, but since there are literally hundreds of thousands of vehicles, many of them with even higher mileage than mine, going strong, I guess I'll just take my couple grand and mosey on down the road with a smile:)

best of luck,

anthony

Oh, just saw the last posts.
I only need an ounce or two for the analysis, so that's all I had to replace every ten thousand miles. What would that be? 9 tests at say, 2 ounces max? When I removed the filters, I always tried to minimize the loss, but I'd guess you could raise the estimate of the oil replaced. I never really measured, just checked the dipstick, but it was never very much. For the sake of the arguments, Let's say double it. So I guess I've add maybe 2 quarts of oil over the course of the usage. Not because it was worn out or burned, but because I'd removed it for testing.
I'd still have to say, that's mighty impressive. I guess we'd have to reduce my estimated savings by ten or 15 bucks, but I'm still smiling.

actually, the methodology Anthony K employed is fine, but kenmac sounds like he's EZ. I'm not, been exposed to too many tests over time to believe in anything but the long term result, and if it takes years so be it... I never said I don't use Synthetic Oils, I don't know where that assumption comes from, but you know what they say when people ASSUME things.

In my experience any of those ISB series is going to run 95,000 miles... I've got about 200 of em at wirk, on a 6000 mile OCI, which amounts to about every 300-500 hours of running time between oil changes, using cheapest oil the fleet can buy and cheapest filters we can get on low bid, and they all have a service life that goes past 300,000 miles. at the moment we are buying some cheap oil called Imperial...was Fram for awhile, might be Powerguard right now on the filters, doesn't matter, whatever is low bid.

so no Iaint impressed... if anthony goes 600,000 miles on that engine on 6 oil changes, I'll be impressed.

Wait and see is my attitude.

I' ll give you a list of some of my credentials since i cant post a UOA for something I've never done.

Thanks:)
I'm gonna go for a million on this one!

heh heh...

Seriously, because I'm a fairly gentle driver, I really am curious as to how far this one will go. I have a feeling the truck will fall apart before the engine does!

Keep you posted,

anthony

Good try kick but,
I don't see where you are certified in any engine oil, oil analysis(using different oils) ,performed any oil test yourself through oil analysis, engine wear, etc, etc,. So, I'am not empressed:eek: . Guess I'am not that EZ;)

I'll list some of my certifications. Mine have nothing to do with oil but, neither does yours:p

NATE certified- 2006
H.V.A.C certified -1988
Master plumber- certified-1990
Master gas fitter- certified-1990
Natural gas fire fighitng-certified-1988
