Only have 10 hours on this and it will not start up, has fuel, getting fire to plugs, cleaned air filter, put new plugs in it, and a new fuel filter for ***** and giggles. Fuel is getting on the plugs lightly. Anybody any ideas PLEASE???? Its a slt 1554 model. with a Kohler 27hp engine.

Well, if you got fire, and you got fuel, and it ain't startin', you might have timing problems.

That said, I don't know how your timing could have gotten messed up. I think these are solid state ignition, but I could be wrong.

Did it do anything odd the last time it ran? When you shut it down, did it backfire? If it backfired, it might have sheared the key and shifted the flywheel.

Try just a little starting fluid in the carb to see if you can get it to fire. Maybe you don't have enough fuel for some reason (float, water, ...,?).

Well, it seems it has been running a little slower since the first time I used it, and it was running fine last week. When I went to start it up sat. it was running like it was on low speed but the idle stick was up on fast. I turned it off and it backfired a couple of times. then when I tried to start it again it was just turning over and backfiring. All safety switch are working or it wouldnt even try to turn over. STILL PUZZLED!!!!

I think I would do as the others suggested and check the flywheel key. If you have an impact wrench it'll be easy to remove the flywheel.

Is there alot of disassembly to do this, it is still under warranty.

There have been reports here of flywheel nuts coming loose and sheared flywheel keys on the Courage engines causing them to lose proper ignition timing. You'll need to remove the cooling shroud and the flywheel nut to inspect for this.

An engine needs fuel, spark, air and compression at the proper time. You say that you have fuel and spark so if there is enough compression and nothing restricting the air intake, that leaves timing like others are suggesting. Holding the spark plug wire near the plug while cranking should give a spark of at least 1/4 inch.
