Here are some pictures of my David Brown 780 Selectamatic refurbish project. Notice the Three point hitch photo that shows the rebuilt sway bars. The seat is a Massey Ferguson seat but with the extra foam and half the cost of an original replacement, I think I might like it better. Fenders are now painted Case Power White. The picture shows just primed.

Well Kid I got some pictures posted on my thread of seats, fenders, Bonnet (Its British) and stripped down tractor. The decals are very faded but I decided to tape them anyway, we'll see if I need very expensive new ones. I will get some pictures of the instrument panel today and show off the New Tachometer That started this whole project. DB Pilot

Well Kid I got some pictures posted on my thread of seats, fenders, Bonnet (Its British) and stripped down tractor. The decals are very faded but I decided to tape them anyway, we'll see if I need very expensive new ones. I will get some pictures of the instrument panel today and show off the New Tachometer That started this whole project. DB Pilot

Looking good DB. How much is the decal kit? Mine cost around $40 I would seriously consider the decals unless they are off the charts in cost. If that's the case, you might consider a vinyl sign shop making some for you. My hood got it's first coat of clear lacquer on it. Wet sand it tommorro for coat two.

Here are a few more photos and the Tachometer that started all this. Today I pulled the Seat mechanism apart. It was a brutal process due to rust and damaged parts. I learned a lot about the "Super Comfort seat". Which is what David Brown called it. Turns out it is the same seat that Ford called the "Rest-o-Ride". Tomorrow I will try to rebuild the seat torsion mechanism, clean up the front wheel bearings and put the front wheels back on the tractor. I want the steering wheel off the tractor but the gear puller doesn't move it. Tried Kroll oil and heat, still nothing.

I love that unique patina that resembles bird poop. Very realistic.

I used a rubber mallet on mine. Jacked the front end off the ground so I could easily turn the wheel. I'd give each spoke a good upward swat spin the wheel the next one and hit it and so forth. It took about thirty minutes but patience paid off. I removed the wheel without any damage. The mallet was slowly jarring it loose until it finally popped free.

One day about 100+ starlings, I think, broke into the barn and tried to paint about every piece of equipment I own. They have been evicted.

Thanks for the advice to get the steering wheel off. I will try the mallet technique tomorrow. Worked most of the day on the seat mechanism. I can fix it but will be a lot of work just to keep the original looks of the tractor. Well that's what I wanted so I will keep at it.
