I also noticed with these cans, there is a good amount of pressure that builds up in them ,while sitting.
with the valve always closed on them, there is no way for the pressure to reliese itself.

I have seen postings of those cans with dangerous distortion from pressure buildup while transporting in the back of a pickup truck on warm days. There would be less of that buildup with diesel than with gas due to diesel's lower volatility, but still a problem.

Just what is the concept behind them?Ive had them turn into balls there was so much pressure. Then when I open them the fumes escape. I dont understand how that is keeping the fumes from the atmosphire...And if the spilling is far greater I dont see the advantage to all these changes in them..

You mean the government mandated something that made things worse? How can that be??:)

Personally I have used one of those portable transfer tanks (Flo N' Go - DuraMax). But I have found two things, one it is made of plastic and will leak, gravity is not your friend and it needs to be hire than what you are filling or at least level when the fuel gets low.

The long hose has caused me problems getting the fuel when it is low, but I got smart finally and learned to leave my tractor far enough away where the hose is straight instead of drooping, that helped a lot.

Seriously considering adding a pump to just suck the tank dry and use a ball/valve type of shut off at one end to stop the flow.

Not the perfect tank, but it is adequate.

megaboz that's the best thing I have seen so far!

Haven't been able to locate any local stores that carry it yet.

I got mine at tractor supply, but I noticed that they don't have it on their web site anymore even though I did just some there in the store.

The O'Reilly's Auto Parts store at Lake Ozark was selling the "old" 5 gallon red cans this weekend for $7.95 per can. Maybe they are doing this all over. Worth checking.

According to Flo 'N Go this is where you should be able to buy them (look under the "Flo n go" column):

Maybe not local stores, but Northern Tool carries them (link with a video):

If you are lucky enough to have a Harbor Freight nearby some of the stores carry fuel cans (but not all stores do).

How in the heck are these cans "better"?? The first time I used one, the useless flexible spout fell into my fuel tank. Fishing that out was a blast. NOT!

I'm seriously considering a tank I can load in and out of my pickup that has a real nozzle.
