When I purchased my homeowners insurance policy, the agent asked me if I had a woodstove.

if they ask, make sure you tell them if its a freestanding, insert, or zero-clearance, etc.. I have a zero clearance wall insert stove with Excell pipe (like supervent, only better) and have to convince them that its actually a very safe stove.

What I was getting at earlier was that as governments tighten standards the insurance companies could become even fussier, perhaps approving only new models. :eek: It's really up to them, but there is more than one carrier out there. (so far, so good) The only sure way around this may be to become too old to load a wood stove. :frown:
