Erosion Help Needed

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will take a look at those papers. Here are a couple of pictures of what it looks like when it is in bad shape.

One of the most helpful resources I have found are the technical papers here: Center for Dirt and Gravel Road Studies

They are all free, and the illustrations are easy to follow.

The general idea is get the water off your road instead of running down your road. How you accomplish this in your particular situation might involve ditches, crowning your road, and other methods followed up with ongoing maintenance.

Wow, holy crap... So again how much is concrete? Is this the only bad section or is it just one of them? Water needs to be removed from the roadway fast. If the ditches erode, it's not that bad of a problem. Where you drive needs to be good and dry.

I've done both, high center to drain to both sides and a gradual slope to drain from one side to the other. I've used diverters (humps and valleys) to direct water to the sides and ditches.

This normally happens most of the way up one side and mainly in the lower half of the other.
In the past when we have had it cleared the result was whatever the dozer guy wanted to do (no direction from us on slope, etc) but now that we will have a tractor we will try sloping to one side and adding some dips and diversions. At least it should make it last a little longer. With the advice here, I do understand that slowing the water is really the key so that's what we will shoot for.
