Ethanol Free Gas

   / Ethanol Free Gas #181
For those who fill small jugs with ethanol free gas, keep in mind most gas pumps use the same hose to dispense all gasoline blends. The first half gallon or so will likely be the blend the previous customer bought. After selecting the ethanol free blend, it's best to put the first gallon or so in the vehicle tank to flush the hose before filling your jug.

Many gas stations have warning labels to this effect, but not all.

Something I wish they had available in NS is corn free gas, can't get it anywhere. Even tried the local yacht club figuring boaters of all things would be after corn free....nope, not available.

Before ethanol free gas was available here, I used synthetic fuel in my small engines. Expensive, yes, but it was worth it to me to avoid problems.

Not practical for automotive use though.

I saw a gallon of that at Menards the other day. It cost more than a new carburetor for my chainsaw.

Plenty of E0 stations here, but the one I buy from, ALL of their hi-test fuel is E0 and have it's own hose.

Call me cheap but what I do is run the corn gas all summer as I use my trimmer regularly and keep it full to the top. Come fall I'll run it dry and then fill it with the ridiculously expensive pre mixed stuff, run it for a bit, drain it back into the can and then run it dry. I do the same with stuff I don't use much, my hedge trimmer and my chainsaw.
A bunch of screwing around....yup, necessary....I don't know for sure but I intend to keep doing it. Being forced into using something that may/will cause harm to something I own because 'the goobermint says so" rubs me the wrong way but you got no choice.

Have 89 BP 8 miles from house and 90 No-name Ethanol-Free less than 3 miles. BP is dedicated pump with just that product available, 90 octane pump has several choices available but it has a dedicated hose just for that product.
