I have a '56 White WC22 truck with a six cylinder flathead engine. It has a Holley 852FFG carb that has started leaking and creating running problems for the engine. I'm pretty well convinced that the ethanol in the gas has caused the problems. If the truck sits for several days it is very hard to start. I checked in with a local Sonoco racing gas dealer and he recommended 110 octane leaded gasoline. He sells quite a bit to classic car owners because of the problems the ethanol gas has been causing in engines designed for straight gasoline. I've added ten gallons to the tank and it seems like the truck is running better. I've sent off an identical carb to have it restored. The new parts are supposed to be okay for the ethanol gas but I think I'll still use the racing gas. If I start driving the truck more I'll have to use regular unleaded because it's half the price of the racing gas.
