Weather forecasters calling for the End of Times this weekend.

I've been naughty and haven't plugged in my Tesla. Backed it into the garage the other day to unload groceries. Umbilical doesn't reach in that position. In an emergency I'll have to make do with only 230 miles of range in the battery.

Shame on me.

It sounds like from some news of this week that EVS have reached the critical hump to dominate the world and new car sales.

This week Elon musk pledged to double the number of Tesla's produced weekly in the United States over the next 2 years.

You do not want GPS or all the other things satellites provide? It is like saying no oil when most things you wear or use require oil to be made.
If the ~10000 we have up now aren't doing the job? How many more is enough?

Got ask the people that want them, Tech moves fast many things are obsolete in <5 years.
The lifespan of a satellite varies depending on its orbit and mission, but generally, satellites in geosynchronous orbit (GEO) have a design life of around 15 years, while those in lower Earth orbit (LEO) typically last 7-10 years.
How many need to be replaced annually?

It's nuts to see mentally ill people vandalizing another person's car, because of who owns the car COMPANY.

At the moment, Id be nervous to park a Tesla in a liberal city.

What is wild, is that those same people adored him and his cars a short time ago 🤣

We don't have 10000, we have roughly half that, at 5184. And even if they lived forever, no, it wouldn't be enough.

Our GPS system, unless there are components undisclosed, is the most fragile and ancient of all the various nations that have independent GPS. Our system has nearly zero reducancy, and some of the satellites employed are 30 years old.

The reality is that satellites live relatively short lives. You don't put one up there and expect it to work for the next 100 years. It's a game of continuous replacement, due both to the harsh environment and ever-increasing demands on what the hardware can do.

of course in the 60's and 70's alternative culture adopted the, "****," VW as their go to vehicle. Yet VWs, were not small arms bullet proof. It would be fun to see a Cybertruck with a flower power wrap. :)
