New update to the Cybertruck breaking the hitch off. They subjected the F 150 to dropping on the hitch.
"
The Ford did not lose it's hitch. Tesla needs to reinforce the giga casting with steel inserts or "something".

Makes you wonder what the safe towing capacity is for that truck.

There are some roads and interstates around here that will really bang the snot out of you.

That's not going to happen. It's the nature of the properties of the metals. Cast aluminum cracks, cold rolled steel bends. There's not much you can do about it.

I saw a matte black one about 2 weeks ago...stealthy...

Although it's still not hitting my style button.

And it won't pull a gooseneck...

Right , but there are certainly methods of reinforcing parts if not just bolting a steel stiffener to the Gigacasting.

Tesla was and is a user of friction stir welding on some models, directly joining steel and aluminum. Maybe they can use some of that tech on this hitch problem at least on future CT production.

Friction stir can also be used as a method to just strengthen Aluminum.

Not saying friction stir is the answer, it just seems like the CT hitch is a real problem that will need to be dealt with especially after years of hard use. People will get stuck and will be pulled out of ditches using chains etc. and a trailer detaching at highway speeds would be a really bad deal.
