Events like this should drive future Tesla and other EVs developed on the Tesla charger standard.

Unbelievable. If I was going to wait until the last minute to leave a hurricane (EV or not) I would just stay put.

I bet ya EV sales slow down dramatically in Florida and Carolina's.....millions without power still. Meanwhile stored gasoline and tanker trucks coming to rescue keep many ICE vehicles running. On a similar vein....if a EV sits in flooded salt water 2 ft deep, is it a write off ???

That's a really crappy situation for those folks who purchased a vehicle from them and who are now stuck.

With the company going under and not standing behind their vehicles, those people are stuck with a boat anchor.

The vehicle is worth pennies on the dollar for a trade in.

And to add insult to injury, the company was trying to make people pay for warranty repairs out of pocket.

From my experience in Florida. They are gonna be without gas or diesel for a while.

Fuel comes into the state from the port. Then gets distributed throughout the state.

Port gets shut down during storms like this, so no fuel shipments.

Then as a station does get fuel, they will be sold out within hours because everyone and their brother is trying to get gas.

It usually takes a few weeks after one of these events before demand and supply equalize out.

I'm betting they will make an announcement, if they haven't done so already, allowing emergency vehicles and support companies to use off road diesel so they can continue to provide response until highway diesel becomes available again.

Any vehicle that sits in salt water 2 ft deep is totaled, EV or ICE.

But you can get a great deal on a newer vehicle at the salvage auctions.

That's how my daughter got a 2yo Kia Telluride for $7,000 with low mileage.

Her husband is a certified Kia and Hyundai tech and worked for both dealerships in town for several years.

So he had the vehicle shipped to the dealership, replaced the interior, went through and cleaned all the electrical connections, as well as changing all fluids front to rear.

It's been a really good car for her.
