Ever buy a toaster?

Well here's my take on toasters - I have gone through several new toasters in the last several years with not one working to my satisfaction. In sizing up the purchase, I look at the wattage first because this tells me the heat output of each unit. However, their rating system must lie, as when I get the toaster of my choice home and with great anticipation I, with mouth watering and butter ready I press the lever down, put the selector on it's darkest setting and watch the heating coils turn red. When the toaster pops, once again I am disappointed as the darn thing just barely puts a brown color on the bread, a tan would be an exaggeration. The outlet has 122 volts feeding it so the house voltage and current is healthy but still the toaster lever has to be held down so I can get a decent slice!! Geeze!! Bob

this will make the toast catch on fire if you want it too. and it can pretty much cook everything else that your oven can

I used a toaster oven for years. Now I just put the bread in the microwave long enough to warm it and melt the butter.

My wife found this and laughed telling me that your not the only one who can’t find a decent toaster.

I now shop yard sales for old outdated toasters as nothing made recently has worked and I think the return count on the toasters we purchased and brought home to try is at 40 different toasters in the past 10 years. Not one will toast properly, not one will hold all the different size slices, and not one could toast a pop tart without having to go fishing for at least one of them!

I am at the point where I feel nothing short of building my own will satisfy. Very confusing as I can remember having a 4 slice taster that lasted from the time I was a young boy till I left to join the military that toasted everything perfectly for 6 children and 2 adults without fail. One of my sisters still uses it to this day. So it’s not impossible it can be done I just can’t find any made today!

Our families first toaster had a fabric two cond. cord, with the black bakelite frying pan style socket. Heating elements in the middle and two flap like doors you put the toast in on each side and close it. Nothing automatic. Probably another thing my Dad picked out of the scrap conveyor destined for the blast furnace.

When I want toast I use my "propane powered" toaster...

I put a little butter on a small 2 slice size CI skillet on my cook stove, get it hot and throw my bread in it, when it's where I want it, I flip the bread and it's perfect, and already buttered.

I only use butter that I make and here it is, right out of the mould,

If you could defeat the interlock on your microwave, you could put that on the turntable and direct the torch at it. Semi automatic. lol

My step dad had one of those. I liked making the toast as a kid with these and it worked great! Now a days, I'd surely burn it all to bits.

I paid 10 bucks for mine at the local grocerie store about 2 years ago. So far it has worked well, I put bread down and a few minutes later toast comes back up. My only complaint :D is that it doesn't make a noise when it comes up... sometimes I have cold toast for breakfast.

Coming soon; hear me lament about how hard it is to find a good cup of coffee!!!
