MossRoad...inflation has made it so much easier to earn that million dollars. It took me 20 years or until age 38 to begin making over 25 grand a year.
Woah... how old are you? Could it have something to do with industry and geography?
63...if you read my OP it would be obvious I'm an old fart. My first full year at a decently paying job was in 1972 and I earned just over $6900 that year.
I'm right there with you. I've never made $100K in a year in my life. I have little sympathy for those that claim to have made millions and can't figure out where it went.....
I am retired on a $60K p/year income. Net worth of approximately $750K not counting my retirement monies. Debt of $75K (new debt on land bought).
Not picking on anyone. Certainly not bragging. Just clarifying where I stand in the money or "how much you earned" graph.
So obviously a family man can live on what most consider a meager income. I think the secret is explained in my signature.
And as I brought up before what you make vs where you are going.EH? No one is looking for sympathy, but clear the air here. Salary and geography, what you make vs where you are have a lot to do with where it goes.

Cost of living in Northern Virginia vs Northeast Mississippi can be amazing - In Mississippi we go up the road to the local diner and each get a platter of fish, sweet potato, coleslaw and 4 or 5 hushpuppies drink and the bill is $15 w/ an adequate tip for the two of us.
