Ever lose something mysteriously in the woods?

My sister lost her wristwatch while helping repair a potato digger in the field - we looked every down moment but could not find it ! The next spring I was servicing irrigation equipment and when I got to that area I literally walked over to it and picked it up and it was still running on the correct time.

But dd it take a licking and keep on ticking?

Is it a Timex?

This and a Jonsen Blue Stick pole saw is all you need to cut just about everything.

Just about everything. I sure like having a big saw with double dawgs (or dogs, or bumper spikes, whatever you want to call them) for felling larger trees and for large bucking projects. My neighbor had some big red oaks about 30" dbh taken down at her house last summer. It's true that a 250 with a 16" bar, which happens to be exactly what she has, would do the job, but my 460 did it a lot faster and made me smile while I did it.

It is a bit of a luxury item, though. I could get by with less. I figure since I cut and split about 10 full cords per year, I should get to have some fun doing it.:)

I talked to two different Dolmar dealers today. The price on the 421 I was quoted was very good. I have pretty much made up my mind to go that way. And that was before I realized that we get to call them "Dollies". That settles it once and for all!

Now we're talking. Just learn how to sharpen it, keep the chain tight enough, use good bar oil and non ethanol gas mixed with a quality oil. The saw will outlive you.

Oh, Kevlar chaps, a helmet and Kevlar gloves are a given. If any doubts, google chainsaw accidents and get back to me.

Oh yeah, I'm already on it. I've got all that stuff plus a set of Viking chainsaw boots. I also keep a trauma pack in the Jeep near where I'm cutting. Chainsaws are serious business. Excellent tools, but very dangerous.

Thank you, though for bringing up safety equipment. I think every chainsaw conversion should includea statement like yours.

I run non-oxigenated premium (no ethanol) and use Stihl's synthetic oil
What is "non oxygenated" gas?
I try to keep my gas non oxygenated until it gets into the cylinder (where the spark plug initiates the oxygenation).
Oxygenating it prior to this usually turns out bad.

I've seen it labeled that way at the pump around here. I just assumed it meant non-ethanol, but I'm not sure about that.
