here is an item i picked up at garage sale, the car is 9" long x4.5 " wide x4.5" high. and it weighs a wopping 6lbs 6 oz. seems to be made of a ceramic as a magnet won't take to it. it is actually a lawn sprinkler, the hose hooks up the back and the brass fitting on top is the sprinkler, and is is adjustable. the lisence plate says 1960 but the car looks to be an older 40 model, can anyone place it?

I'm sure I've seen that body in old movies set in Europe around the time of WWII. Other than that, no clue.

Late fifties were the first cars I paid any attention to, so I don't recognize it the way you guys have. The first pic looked like a VW bug to me. The hood on the front view also looked VW, but the lights are too small and different, and it has a grill.

My first gues was a Peugot, but after looking at it,and the suicide doors, I started thinking that if it was black, it would look like an English taxi.

Anyway, it looks more European to me.

Cool find! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

No idea here, but maybe it replicates a stereotype of cars in a specific era rather than a specific model.

Probably a Renault 4CV. Attached is a picture of a 1960 4CV. The trunk (rear engine compartment) is a little different, but the doors and the rest of the body match, as does the year. The grill is also very similar to a Renault.

It looks like a "squinched down" version of my old 1948 Pontiac. May have to drive it to the TRAVELING ROAD SHOW to find out /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Nice find.

After closer inspection i think it made of heavy die cast, (thus magnet won't take) and i think it is more modern than 1960(even tho the plate say 1960) look at the shiny brass fittings on it.

Maybe it just had an engine re-build /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yeah, it is a european of 50s vintage. Saw a lot of them over there but for the life of me I can't put a name to it. Somehow the Renault doesn't ring a bell and I have an itch that keeps saying German but...

I believe what you have there is a 1951 H2 Oldsmobile.
