Everlast 200 Stick review.. Kinda

The work clamp goes to the "work" being done. Whatever you are welding on is the "work piece". Actually it is the work clamp that is doing the work. It's providing the negative electron flow and the electrons are flowing from the metal to the end of the electrode melting it away. The electrode holder is the return path for the electricity.

The lift tig switch is for the lift tig function. If you purchase a separate gas valve tig torch you can DC tig weld with it. This allows the voltage to drop to almost nothing when the tungsten is touched to the metal to start the arc, preventing sticking of the tungsten to the metal. When the connection is broken, the arc starts as the tungsten is lifted up. More advanced TIG units have a built in gas solenoid with a HF start or a lift start option. HF start allows the TIG arc to be struck so that the tungsten does not have to be touched to the metal...especially helpful when welding aluminum.

Edit: Posting at same time as gw. But to clarify, the TIG switch does not reverse polarity. When welding TIG, Tig torch goes to the middle and work clamp goes to right port.

Why it is different, is because the unit has completely different build inside on the new ST units. Went from horizontal boards to vertical and rearranged the power circuits...all for a more heavy duty design. (same production facility though)

GW you should get into TIG welding. You have most of what you need now. Just a cheap $25 regulator about $75 for a 17V (for valve) torch and a bottle of argon, either rented or buy. I guarantee you will like it once you get the hang of it. It is usefull for all those things you were thinking about getting a MIG for without all the expense..Yes it is slower, but also more precise. You are always in control, and can work at your pace. It is sort of like gas welding. It is sort of like soldering only different.:D Anyway when you want to weld some thin, or small thing, break out the TIG torch and have at it. Here are some copper crush washers I made out of household copper wire in just a couple if minutes with my TIG setup on my PA160. And here is a broken hook I TIGed back together.

The far left port when the work clamp is plugged in there is the 6010/6011 (cellulose) port.

Getting back to the 6010 port. There is a separate, albeit small reactor for the 6010 port which changes the arc quality. It makes it stiffer and more aggressive.

Mark, I know the "6010/6011 (cellulose) port" is meant to be mainly for the finicky 6010. But since you listed the 6011 with it, is it also beneficial for the 6011 rod?

Any cellulose based flux 6010, 6011, 7010.etc. The 6011 is a 6010 with arc stabilizers in the flux (don't ask what they are...never figured it out). It is a little less penetrating than 6010, but a decent substitute in many respects if allowed. It still isn't as easy to weld with as a 7018 or 7014 with iron powder/Titania in the flux.

I don't know what it is:confused2:, but Everlast sure nailed it!:cool2: Both my PowerArcs run 6010 / 11 every bit as nice as my Short hoods. Seems as I remember 7018 didn't even come out until the mid 1950s. So the Short hoods were designed to run 6010. Lincoln doesn't miss the boat very often!

If memory serves it's just the difference in the coating the makes 6011 more stable for AC.

6010 Cellulose Sodium
6011 Cellulose Potassium

Do you even use the 200 now that you got the 300?

Actually I don't use any of them much. I just have a problem with buying welding machines.:eek::eek::eek::eek:
Some people drink, and smoke. I was never tough enough:eek:, but have a weakness for buying tools.:confused3:
