I planned on leaving the "L" prong out and using only the two flat Hot blades and the "U" Ground. Should be good, no?

You can do this, but it's not code...and you don't try to make the mistake of matching wire colors to do it. White and black are hots on the welder side. Red is left out of the way. Match black to black, and white to red.

Where are you planning on plugging this in?
240/1/60 50 Amp circuit in the garage.

Got it, thanks!

I'm getting closer. Picked up the plug while at Home Depot getting ready mix.

Here's the correct plug. One of the blades is more narrow than the other.

I'm using the same Home Depot (4-wire) plug without the neutral blade. It allows me to plug into all the 4-wire 220V/50A and 220V/30A outlets in my barn. Of course, I can only use 100+A on the 30A outlets but the flexibility is nice.

Found a $80 welding cart in the clearance area at TSC for $29.99, it rang up for $19.99. First project, extending the welder cart shelf. the PA300 must not be a typical welder because the box said the cart holds most welders and the PA300 is about 2 1/2" longer than the shelf. What a beast of a machine ;)

Roughfully 800-pounds each.
Uh, yeah, I don't think my clearance TSC welding cart is going to hold either of those  ;)

If that TSC cart has a shelf down low in the rear then it is for a MIG welder. The shelf is for a gas bottle and should have a chain included. Harbor Freight sells the same item but your discount price beats HF.

100 lb. Capacity Welding Cart

I put my welder and plasma cutter on a Harbor Freight rolling tool cabinet with a flat top that slides open to reveal a storage area and two drawers on the side. Got three of them on sale a few years back. Perfect fit for both. (Just checked...HF doesn't have them anymore.:grumpy:)

I put my PA300 on this cart:

Steel Tool Cart w/ Locking Drawer

I like it so far, seems heavy enough and rolls nice on concrete. A good quick fix for me, although one of my 1st projects might be to build a cart. The HF rod containers clip on the ends nicely. :)

That is a very nice cart!

How you like that husky chainsaw? I have two of them.
