i am impressed!!! What welder are you using? How do you like your new plasma? What is the thickest you have cut with it?

I am using a Lincoln 180 mig that a friend gave to me. I love the plasma ! I have cut some 1/2" plate just for testing and it does it no problem. Over the winter I am going to make a CNC table for it ,I hope .

I just remembered I did cut some 1" round bar , it went right through that as well.

I am ready to see this thing GOOOOOO!!!

Me too ,but it is a slow going process my injuries only allow so much work to be done . After working on it for a couple of hours for a couple of days in a row I need to take some time to recover and get my pain managed again.

I lost my friends as helpers because of the holidays ,but I did manage to get the steering hydraulics plumbed up and managed a little test drive. I am happy to report that all my pulley alignments , tensioning and jackshaft setup works perfectly through full range of articulation and oscillation. I tried it out on the steepest hill in my backyard and it went right up it with no wheel spin. I was even able to stop midway and start again with no problems. I am trying to get it functioning enough to plow snow. It is very rough looking right now ,but I can work on the finishing touches in between snowstorms.

Evo,
When this thing gets finished, you could draw up plans and sell them. This is a serious DIY project that could grace any "popular" mechanical magazine. I know its a budget operation, but I can't help but thinking how nice some chrome ATV tires and wheels would look, and a custom rolled cowling for that engine would finish it off.

The cowl I have is actually the hood from the Sears LT1000 that this started as. It will do for now but there is definately a new rear cowl and fenders in the works that will hold the dual battery setup and a 8 gallon hydraulic oil tank to run the loader that I am working on. I am desparately trying to get this thing up and running just to plow snow this winter. When it is not being used for snow removal I will continue to work on the fit and finish of it. Again thanks to you and Everlast the pp50 it has made fabricating parts as easy as cutting paper with scissors. The replacement torch has worked flawlessly and I will soon be calling you to get some more consumables . I use this thing to cut everything and my back thanks you. Gone are the hours spent with cut off saws and right angle grinders struggling to get some intricate shapes made.

Was just wondering about using the plasma cutter in wet weather, indoors, but high humidity? Its showing here its 98 percent, which I find hard to believe, its an overcast day, rain showers yesterday. Will this harm the unit, using indoors in an open garage?

Its a warning not to use it when moisture is condensing on the unit, in areas of heavy fog or in direct rain or damp surfaces.

Ok. Well so humidity doesn't play a part a part so much as getting water or mist directly on unit?

It is the moisture in the air supply that gives the plasma trouble not the outside air. Dry the air with various filters and moisture absorbing products.
