Nice truck! Doesn't the grill "sort of" look like a Jeep? In fact, didn't Mahindra build Jeeps during WW II? Or at least sometime many years ago.

Cheers

You win a cookie. :D Your one of the few people I have ever run across that knows about the Mahindra Jeeps.

MAHINDRA

"In the years immediately after World War II, two Indian brothers, J.C. and K.C. Mahindra, started assembling completely knocked-down (CKD) Willys Jeeps that were imported to India from the US. K.C. was a graduate of the famous English University of Oxford, and his brother J.C. had a background in the iron and steel industry. In the early days of their operation, only 10 percent of the components for the Willys Jeeps were sourced in India, but this percentage gradually increased to 17 percent. In the 1950s things really took off for the Mahindra brothers; plans were submitted to the Indian government in 1954 to increase the amount of Indian-manufactured parts and decrease the number of CKD kits imported. The plans were approved, and in April 1955 the company purchased a factory at Bhandup, and gradually the Mahindra Company shifted from assembling CKD Jeeps to license building Jeeps."

If your curious that's a 106mm Recoilless Rifle in the back of the pictured Mahindra Jeep.

That's actually been brought up here many times when demonstrating that Mahindra and Mahindra have a long and distinguished history of production. However, there have been a few people who have talked about having an "all American" Willy's WWII jeep only to find out that their "all American jeep was manufactured by M&M.

I'm not saying Mahindra can or can't pass emissions in 2009 but apparently GM thinks they can; with their 4.5lL diesel they plan to make for their half ton trucks in 2009.
GM isn't the only one. I saw an article in the newspaper the other day saying Honda will be selling an Accord diesel in the U.S. in 2008 or 2009, and Chrysler will put the diesel V6 that is currently in the Grand Cherokee into the Dodge Charger and Magnum and Chrysler 300 in 2008. It also mentioned the small diesels coming in the GM and Ford trucks by 2009 and also a diesel Nissan sedan, in addition to the return of the VW diesels next year.

Speaking of small diesels, here is a photo of my diesel generator. ;) It never fails to start on the first try, if I use the correct starting procedure. Only problem is it came painted red and blue. I can't figure out if I want to paint it all red or leave it as is. Nice thing is it runs over 19 hours on 8 gallons. I bought it after Hurricane Katrina and before Rita.
hugs, Brandi
