Everything Attachments Box Blade?

I have a DK45S but no implements except a mower and rotary cutter. I need to maintain some dirt trails that get rutted and high-centered with continued use. I also need to do occasional grading and minor earth moving. I am considering a box blade as well as a land leveler but the box blade seems less expensive and more versatile. My mowers are 72 inch and my back tires are almost 72 inches across.

Questions: Is the box blade the right first implement to get? If so, how wide should it be? Can anyone comment on the quality and value of the Everything Attachments box blades or recommend another brand/model?

I have a DK45 SE and the first implement I got was a box blade. I have a 72" mower as well. My use sounds similar to yours, but soil conditions may be quite different. Mine is mostly used for grading trails that are surfaced with crushed stone.

I ordered the 72" but ended up with a 66" because the wait would have been long for the wider blade. I am now glad I got the narrower blade, it is easier to maneuver and very nearly as wide as the tires. (Close enough) I made some modifications to mine, there is a thread at Kioti DK45SE box blade/carry-all/trailer hitch/counterweight/top n tilt VIDEO

I don't know anything about the Everythingattachments blade except to say that they seem well-respected by most people whose comments I have seen.

I purchased a 78" BB from EA for my DK40. I wanted something wider than my tires as I was grading our road with a decent drop off at the edge in spots and I wanted to keep the tires away from the edge. The only problem is that I didn't order it in time and it showed up a few days after the ground froze last fall. So I am now waiting until after the spring mud season to be over before I can use it.

I have a 72" EA prototype boxblade with the scarifiers mounted behind the beam.
That is one tough BB. It has done everything that I have asked it to with out any
problems. My outside tire width is 68" and I have no problems with the overhang.
Mine was made before they made them Cat1/Cat2 clevis hitches. They sold them
as prototypes. I would buy EA BackBlades again if I were starting over...

This or the equivalent is what I have and would get again. Other than hydraulic actuated rippers, it's hard to beat putting all the rippers down with a single pull of a lever, . Besides the unit simply being heavy duty.

I bought a new BB with the second tractor DK40HST and love the box blade. It has the "clevis" style attachment which is stronger. Mine just had a sticker on it showing the model. I think my dealer said they are made in Illinois. This is the only picture I have of it.

I have an EA 72" box blade and am very satisfied with it. Very rugged construction
and works well with my Bobcat CT335 tractor.

First, how do you plan to use the box blade, do you already have projects planned? What type of soil/dirt will you be working? I don't have an EA box blade, but I do have their HD lift type disc harrows and they work great, are high quality, and heavy. Weight is your friend with a box blade, a heavy box will do a lot more than a light one. For my purposes I went with a Dirt Dog 72" rollover blade @ 800 + lbs. It has been a great tool and done all that I have asked of it for several years now. Box blades come in all sizes and types and you should narrow your search by defining primary use before committing to a particular box.

Tom, It sounds like you have their most heavy duty model (72" Category I & II XTreme Duty Box Blade by Everything Attachments) which is about 150 lb heavier than the one I was considering and rated for 50-100 hp. I was originally considering the next model down (Everything Attachments XTreme Duty 72" Box Blade For Utility Tractors With 30-70 HP) which is 475 lb and rated for 30-70 hp.

Several folks here recommend a very heavy blade (600-900 lb for a 72 inch blade). Having worked in aerospace, I know that strength and weight are related but they are not the same thing. So weight can be increased with ballast if the blade is strong enough. I know my gear tractor can really pull (based on a stuck bus and dump truck I Pulled out) so maybe I should consider the really heavy-duty lade like yours even though I only have 45 hp. On the other hand, my use will be occasional so maybe the lighter box blade will be more than sufficient for my needs. The folks who reported on their EA box blades (here and in the attachments forum) seem very pleased with the design and quality but I din't recall many of them who used their blade hard. But then I don't expect to use mine hard either.

So I guess I'm still on the fence but I suspect the EA Utility (vs compact or cat 1/2 heavy duty) model will more than handle my needs. I do have a new hydraulic top link so it will be easy for me to make that adjustment on the fly.
