I was considering ordering the ETA 72" with rippers - but - free shipping does not include "to the farm." Why is that? It's not like I can't unload the thing.

I believe free shipping is within 1000 miles of their NC plant, OK is probably too far.

By their map circle, I am outside the 1000 miles - barely. By actual mileage, I am not. Although I've not contacted them, based on actual mileage, I don't know how they could refuse free shipping.

The issue I have, however, is no free shipping to a home/farm. This is apparently based upon not having a loading dock. Duhhhhhhh, how many farms that would order a land plane would not have the ability to unload the truck?!?!

Because it takes time to FIND rural addresses and the delivery points tend to be far apart relative to towns. And sometimes the customers are not home when the truck drives up. All of these are costs to the Common Carrier.

So you pay a supplement for "residential" as opposed to business delivery.

I did not see that disclaimer, would have knocked me out too. I had no trouble having Agri supply deliver a flail mower to my residence.. yup, I unloaded it fine.
If ETA truly wont deliver to a farm/residence they are kind of out of the running when I'm shopping implements, free shipping is about the only thing keeping them in alignment with the competition pricewise.

So give them a phone # with instructions to call in advance and problem solved.

So, have them ship to a shipping company dock just within the 1000 miles. Then go there and pick it up with a trailer. I have picked up several things thru the years at the freight company docks. No big thing, they load it for free.... and usually bend over backwards to treat you right.

Would sure be easier unloading it in the front yard!!

Common Carriers have not found this to be a "real world" solution; hence the surcharge.

Nor does that address spaced out nature of rural delivery points.

It has long been a canon of Common Carriers and owner/operators that to be profitable revenue must exceed cost of one gallon of diesel fuel per mile >> currently around $4.00 per mile, varying by state. It is a big expense to hack around ten miles here, ten miles there, with a big rig.

My local ACE HARDWARE will receive Common Carrier shipments, by pre-arrangement, and subsequently load shipment into customer's trailer for $60.00. However, they require received shipment to be picked up from Ace within 24 hours or you pay $20 more per day or part day.

My only thought is don't claim "free shipping" if you aren't going to "deliver".
