My only thought is don't claim "free shipping" if you aren't going to "deliver".

Free shipping actually means shipping charges included in price.. I think they clearly state that it is to one of their participating freight companies doc or to a business dock.. Most freight companies will cart it to your house with lift gate service for around $50 more... usually on a smaller truck. :)

ETA offers a menu of delivery options, at varying prices. There are no surprises. Shipping is clearly explained. And ETA's shipping options have not changed in the six years I have purchased from them.

Customers choose the most workable option.

Personally, I have always paid the surcharge for residential delivery and the second surcharge for having implement unloaded from the truck by driver. I figure second "liftgate" surcharge is a bargain as Common Carrier has the liability of unloading to the ground. (I also tip the driver at least $10.)

Sometimes, now, there is a $15 charge for every telephone call placed by the driver.

And that could all be, I never read the fine print, only the "free shipping within 1000 miles" banner so prominently positioned on their adds.

And the last couple trucks that delivered here, I unloaded my stuff with my loader and a chain off the back of their truck so no reason to pay a "second surcharge" as you call it. And the driver both times had a cell phone in their pocket so a $15 phone call would be nothing more than robbery!

I just tracked down a Woods 72" w/rippers about 30 miles from here for $1264 +tax, might go look at it this afternoon.

I think you will be happy with the woods blade. Let us know how you like it once you get the feel for it.

That's right Jeff. No surprises. I try to make the experience as easy as possible for the customer by simply laying out the options. The order process is usually a breeze.
Some prefer home delivery, but some people(like myself) would prefer to pick up at a freight terminal at their convenience rather than waiting around for a truck to show up.
Some terminals have extended hours, so you can show up after work to pick-up.
Customers sometimes get permission from the local feed store, hardware store, lumberyard.... etc.

Many residences/farms do have room for a big truck and the ability to offload, but require an appointment or pre-delivery call to arrange shipping. This means that the trucking co. needs to plan their day around those stops.
If I owned a trucking co. or drove a LTL delivery truck, i'd feel much better about my day if all of the stops were commercial businesses with loading docks and forklifts waiting.

By their map circle, I am outside the 1000 miles - barely. By actual mileage, I am not. Although I've not contacted them, based on actual mileage, I don't know how they could refuse free shipping.

Oklahoma is a great place to ship to. We ship to the terminals in Tulsa and OKC for free all the time.

Just so you know that whole little foray into shipping was not intended as a slam to you guys.. I've never heard anything but good about you guys!

It's all good. We win some, we lose some.

A few things that stand out when comparing the attachments.

The hitch.
Solid welded Category 1&2 Quick Hitch compatible. Woods is Cat 1, rated for 45 max HP.
IMG_20150414_080026_584.jpg IMG_20150414_080200_478.jpg

Ripper shank weldments look beefier. 3/8" on the ETA.

The greater overall depth of the ETA model(51.5" vs 46") allows room for a more aggressive cutting edge angle. Ted has sold or used about all of the major brands over the years.
He says the more aggressive angle is an extremely important key to the design, which will produce better results.

The ETA features US Made ripper shanks and cutting edges. It adds to the cost, but it's worth it to us. Other mfgs do not advertise the origin of theirs.

Again, I'm not disputing the quality of your implement...

My tractor, L3540, is 37HP so im good.. the Woods is rated at 20-45HP

The bottom and back of my stake pockets are 1/2", sides 1/4

I do like the longer runners you have, but are they worth $400 to me?

Again, you have good stuff, but I, like a lot of people, I only have so much money to play with.:hissyfit:

I didn't think you were....quality/differences weren't discussed.
I do like to point out some of the things we do differently that increase the price, but aren't always obvious at a glance.
We definitely need to get our website updated with actual pics of the model with ripper shanks instead of the mickey mouse computer generated image.
Yes, i'm sure you'll get many years of service with it hooked onto your tractor!
No offense intended or taken here, bud!
I know exactly what you're talking about. My play money is limited due to a wife and kids. Wouldn't trade em for the world though!

We'll hopefully do some business in the future.
