Anybody ever made up a story of balloon Heaven - when kid's balloon flew away?

Your a good Poppy, Tally. That is a pretty good size pecan tree. How old do you figure it is? How many pounds of nuts do you get a year? I'm envious.

I don't know how old it is. During Katrina I lost 3 threes larger than this one and one tree that was about 4 times larger than this one. It was the largest pecan tree I ever saw. I have posted pics of it before but I am posting another one for those who missed it.

Unfortunantly, most of these trees I have produce small pecans that just feed the squirrels. I just have two trees left that produce good pecans. One has large hard pecans and one has smaller round soft pecans.

Dudley, it looks to me like you should open a barbecue restaurant. That much pecan wood would last you for many years in your smoker.

My cousin used to have a huge pecan tree in her front yard in Vernon, Texas. One of the last outdoor things I did with my mother before she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's was to pick up pecans under that tree. They were less than 1/2" long and probably no more than 5/8 diameter. I called them "marble" pecans. My cousin didn't want anything to do with them, but my mother had a ball picking them up. We must have picked up 50 lb or more. That's a bunch of tiny pecans.:)

*The lift I used today wasn't quite as elaborate as this one but it didn't cost me anything either.
Mine consisted of a pallet on my bucket forks.
I stood on the skid to chain saw off broken limbs in a pine tree caused by last months ice storm.

Stacked the sawed off limbs on the pallet and hauled them to this burn pit.
Set the pallet limbs and all in the pit.
Backed the tractor away poured some diesel on the skid and branches and torched it.

Rox, I've seen the food you serve to your help. I just might take you up on that for a taste of those delicacies. Yum!

BTW: I scrambled some eggs last week for lunch. I poured a teaspoon of your A.O.C. into the pan before pouring in the Egg-Beaters. The aroma and flavor of the oil made the eggs taste wonderful. I also use your oil in my rubs for smoked meats. I just keep finding things that are enhanced by your oil.

Dudley,

You're one heck of a grandpappy:):). Hopefully I'm ways from being a grandpa but I'd probably weaseled out of fetching the old kite and bought the little munchkin another bigger and more improved new kite:D:D ,But I have to confess Under the mitigating circumstances it was " the only civilized thing to do":):)

Boy... I sure like that pecan wood.. I can only imagine culinary possibilities there:D
