Grant,
As long as it all slopes downhill it will flow just fine. I tryed to drop 1" every 10 foot. So in a hundred foot I would drop 10". It was easy to do with a transit. If you don't have one you can buy a cheap one for less than a $100. They are invaluable. You can also make one from a cheap scope on a camera tripod like my brother did. Then he ripped a 12 foot 2x4 and marked it. Said he had $25 in it. But if you dig a two foot hole and just gradually slope it I'm sure that will be ok too.
I did rent a ditch witch and it was a piece of cake. I will say though rent the big one, the one that can go 48". Don't get the small one. Anything less than the 48" one is hard to operate. The 48" one you just walk behind and run the controls, piece of cake. One thing I will say though is make sure you put your tile in right after you dig them out!! I made the mistake of waiting a few days and then it rained and some of my trenches caved in and then I had to dig them out, oh what a pain, but I didn't want to spend the money to rent it again. Also wait until the ground is good and dry also. When I put the ones in around the barn after it rained I was covered in mud and took ten times as long to do. Learned my lesson the hard way.
As far as how much will come out depends on how many lines you have hooked to it. It's no big deal though. Anyway with mine even when it rains alot it's not alot of water, but a steady outpour. If you have alot of line going into one at the end where it comes out just put some rock down and then it won't wash out.
