After doing 20 years in the Air Force, I bought some land in Acme, WA to retire on. Unfortunately that didn't work out, but since I always liked the name, I just stole it and added the year I bought it, hence "acme97".

In Arizona we have lizards that walk around with sticks in their mouths on hot days. When they're walking across the desert their feet get too hot, so they push the stick in the ground and climb up on it so they can cool their feet. At least that's a story some people tell to the tourists :D

Sensible Nick

.... I used to race Mountainbikes downhill, and also raced in road-rallies in the UK. Two separate groups with few shared members.

One evening in the pub the two groups met and ended up comparing notes and discovered that the two different groups shared the same opinion of me: That for some reason I kept trying things that were "definitely not sensible" and didn't seem to mind personal injury. After a few snapped mountainbike frames and some un-beaten times on road-rallies, I got called "Sensible" Nick.

It stuck :)

Mine: Completely random, made-up, first-name-that-popped-into-my-head, in order to remain anonymous ... & then I go posting pics, stating that I'm in N Cent FL, mentioning Alachua County, etc. I guess I've decided not to be completely anonymous after all. I still refuse to post my address & SS#, though :)

NYBIRDMAN...my hobby/retirement job.I hatch and raise ringneck pheasant ,chukar and a few bob-white quail.Used for bird dog training and on our uplands preserve.

My Dad raised ringneck pheasant when I was wee little. I don't remember much about them, but remember the cage they were in. One large cage seperated into two cages by one door. Young pheasants on one side and older ones on the other side. One day the door got left open by me or my brother. I am sure it was not me because I was afraid of them.

I liked the ducks Dad raised. I do not like to be around critters with pointed beaks. Anyway, one peck and blood was visible and the cannibalistic fight was on. One pheasant was alive when Dad came home. He had that one mounted. It hangs on my wall to this day.
hugs, Brandi
