Extended car warranties are B.S.

never purchased extended warranty on anything.
When I was in business. I performed some work for warranty companies, but not for very long. They want cheap labor and make the customer pay high deductibles.

Many people that purchase these contracts never read the 50 pages of the contract. That's why they always get screwed when they need to use the warranty.

Just always remember. These companies are in the business of making money, not losing money. And they are very good at what they do.

If you are inclined to purchase one of these extended warranties, You better be sure to read and understand the entire contract

CAVEAT EMPTOR !
Exactly... the coverage sucks for the typical things that fail. Even then, it's a fight to get it covered and my guess is 'you' lose 99% of the time. Who is going to bring in a lawyer for a couple thousand dollar fight. They got you when you bought the additional warranty.

My powertrain warranty states that the engine and transmission/transaxle are covered and that what is not covered is the same as set forth in the "What is not covered" section of the Hyundai New Vehicle Warranty and the starter is not listed there or anywhere in the warranty .
Powertrain is what moves the car. It won't move with a bad starter motor.
Warranty has many exceptions like accident, water, abuse, modifications, rats chewing wires, etc.
How do you know starter motor is bad?
I'd call the dealer. Your can is within 10yr/100k powertrain warranty. It won't go.
Call dealer tomorrow and ask what all is covered.
Keep it simple...end of story.

The Land Rover buyer totaled a 5 fold return on the factory extended warranty... valve cover gaskets and lots of air suspension issues...

Several times towing long distance with the horse trailer the air suspension went out...

The Cadillac owners were both 80 and just wanted piece of mind and Cadillac replaced the engine just a month before the extended went out.

Would I buy for a Toyota or other lower cost car... No

"Drivetrain" warranties are generally very restrictive and don't cover accessories like starters, alternators, power steering pumps, u-joints, seals etc. In other words, anything likely to wear out is not covered.

I friend worked for GM as a director of sales for a region.

When I bought my Ford dually diesel he strongly recommended getting the warranty through Ford. These electrically enhanced vehicles are very expensive to repair.

Question: What's the difference between insurance, warrantees, and casino gambling?

Answer: None. In the long run, the house always wins.....otherwise there'd be no house!

I had it towed to the dealer. They told me the starter was bad and is not covered by the powertrain warranty.

Buying an extended warranty is bad Juju. Your betting against yourself that there will be a failure. The company is betting there will not.

I only had one experience with an extended vehicle warranty. Bought one on a 92 Miata way back when. It burned a valve and had to have a valve job. I don't remember all the details of them trying to get out of fixing it but they eventually paid for the repair. It got drug out for a couple of weeks and I think I had to threaten legal intervention but it's been so long ago I'm not sure.

I had a similar situation with a wreck that was the other parties fault. Their insurance company gave me a run around for a couple of weeks not wanting to make me whole. I finally left a message on the adjuster's supervisors voice mail and told them if they didn't settle to my terms by that afternoon I was calling a lawyer. The adjuster that had previously told me "that ain't gonna happen" called me back that day and wanted to let me know the check was in the mail.
