Doc fee, what a bunch of crap.
They started that bs years ago here on used vehicles.
Ex, wife at the time, picked out a 2 or 3 year old Mazda something or other, they had a look at what we were trading in, we agreed on a price. I went home which was only 5 minutes away, cleaned out the trade in which took all of 5 minutes, went to the bank to get a CC (no financing, cash deal) and then went to the dealer, had to meet with the owner as he did all the cash deals The price had gone up $500 for admin fees. I took my CC off his desk, shook his hand and said "Nice not dealing with you" and walked out the door.
The salesman was sitting outside and went to pass me the keys to which I told him the deal was a bust and I kept on walking to my car. Just sat my butt on the seat of my old car and the salesman came running out to me, said the price is good. I was tempted to keep on going but I reneged and went back to get the car.
Car salesmen and lawyers are cast from the same mold I'm sure.
Good on you for walking out...M
