I am more of a Chevy guy. Ford hasn't been good for my family.
In supertankers, yes, then Wartsila 96 is the norm.
In a 120 ton Hitachi EX1200, the smallest mining class excavator you'll find a Cummins QSK23 weighing 2200kg at 760hp. One size smaller is construction class, a 90 ton Zaxis 890 has a 15.6 liter Isuzu at 520hp, weighing 1100kg.
And what about the inline 6 which is spoken of, for GM ?? A clean sheet design, or badge engineering ? Isuzu has no such engines, 5 liter 4 pot or 7 liter six.
Will this be an inline 6 version of the Duramax V8 ? There was speak of a 4.5l Duramax V8 codename LMK...
I wish there weren't...I'd rather operate a turbine like I did in Chicago, but that was a $14 million option here. It is cool to see when it's torn down though.I didn稚 think there where any Fairbanks opposed piston diesels still in service due to the maintenance costs and complexity.
You guys discussing marine engines in an F150 thread need to get a room
He just enjoys stirring things up and is better off on your ignore list.
Getting back on topic, super happy to see some competition in the half-ton diesel space. We're pretty happy with our EcoDiesel getting ~29mpg highway and 20s towing tractor/horse trailer. Nothing like some good competition to keep companies from resting on their laurels.
Well, however you feel, the Land Rover diesel is in the new Ford F150. I think it takes Ford to a whole new level above competitors.
So what are the towing specs for your specific set up?
Also, as a Ram lurker on the boards seen the cam timing issues. Is this a concern for you?
One video showed the repair but this so called company was so secretive that they would not discuss the repair procedure.
The summary of the video was something ike trust us with your 2k and we will fix it.
Hey it was on the internet so must be true right????..../s
I'm at work now listening to a Fairbanks-Morse 12 cylinder diesel, opposed piston, twin turbo, 4500 HP that turns a generator. Overhauled this past winter to the tune of 1.4 million!
I want to say the crew cab is rated for ~8.9k but we generally keep it under 7k. With a half-ton rather not have the tail wag the dog, so to speak.
We'll see how it does long term, I'm not super concerned at the moment though. It's been a great truck so far.
Back up generator for a power plant?
We use Cooper Bessemer to run a 5.5Mw standby generator. 10 seconds to full load.
3.2 Mw used to supply 100% load, now about 50%, for VA medical center...runs 24/7...or until it breaks
Our backup power goes online this year at the Houston Space Center
Houston scott has the best of everything, just ask him.LOLAnd this is relevant to a discussion of engines in pickups, how?
I love my vehicle combination. One is good at hauling groceries and the other at hauling equipment.

A Diesel F150 Platinum seems like bling to put in front of an air conditioned horse trailer.
I say if you can afford it, by all means, support the economy with your tax dollars on that $70k+ pickup. Where I live, a/c on a horse trailer doesn't seem odd. It would have struck me as odd when I lived on the Kitsap peninsula in Washington though.
.
To be fair, most air conditioned horse trailers have some form of bling towing them around. Also, most people I know that own 3/4+ ton pickups never hook up a trailer.

This is the perfect vehicle for someone who has the cash (obviously), tows what the majority of people would tow (3000-10,000lbs), doesn't tow more than a day or so a week, and wants that fuel economy. Many purchases will be people buying it because diesel has become kind of a status symbol with trucks, though most people would be better off with gas.
I would consider a low mileage, used one as a daily pickup with a 1 ton parked for heavy work. I don't want anything more than an XLT though because I like the cloth seats and lack of Sync and other doodads. That means this idea is out for me since they'll only offer it in the Lariat and up. I'll keep my half ton with the 5.0 for daily work and continue looking for a 1 ton for the heavy lifting. The 1 ton will probably be gas as well though, since it wouldn't see frequent usage.

I dunno, for us at least a half-ton diesel made a bunch of sense. More than enough towing capacity to haul a compact tractor + implements + trailer. Does just fine with our 2-horse trailer. Gets 30mpg highway which is pretty awesome in my book.
