Amazing how plush trucks have become. Very nice. I like grey or dark grey interiors.

Seats are very comfortable and supportive. Trucks have come a long ways from my grandfather's 1948 Chevrolet...not that I am complaining!

So you had a trade right? I hate comparing vehicle prices when somebody has a trade but what did you end up getting the truck for? I'm looking. I did not know that you could get leather in a XLT. IMO XLT has enough features for me and the other packages are way over-priced.

I did trade and got a fair price on my trade. On the new truck, by the time rebates were applied and the negotiated price settled, it wound up around $12,000-$12,500 off the INITIAL sticker price. There was an extra factory discount on the XLT trucks with the 302 package with the leather seats and HID lights. Think it may even be shown on the window sticker I posted up previously. I think by the time I got done with everything it wound up around 40% off the initial sticker, including my trade. This truck has as many features or more than my previous FX4. It has more than enough for me as I have still not had time to read up and learn them all.

I know how you feel. I only have an LT( comparable to the XLT trim) and it has plenty
Of features for me, more than I will use to be honest. I don't think the LTZ(Lariat comparable) has anything I'd really need since you can get leather in the LT but only in a bench seat I believe.

This should be my last post on this thread, but thought this was an interesting piece of information. Looks like asking price on my trade is now $13,488. It has somehow increased in value after it changed hands. I do get it and knew up front what it was worth and was willing to take the hit to save the hassle.

I've learned that whatever they end up giving you for your trade in, they will turn around and ask $6k more for it. Did the same exact think with trade ins I've had. I don't but used cars from dealers because you very rarely get a good deal anymore but it is fun to lowball them and watch them hem and haw about "oh no we have more than that in it". That's why I always offer whatever they're asking price is minus $5000 so they can make $1000 or nothing. I'm sure not going to overpay for the car that's for dang sure. I know how the game works.

That's the reason why I don't like comparing prices on new vehicles with a trade-there are too many variables on how much the dealer is going to sell your old truck for. Say they ask 13,500 but knock off $2K for the buyer. Now they probably gave you about $9K for your trade, which means they will still bank about $2-2.5K on the sale.

Yup. Forget about all that stuff now, and go enjoy your new truck. It is a lovely, lovely vehicle. I know. I have practically the same one myself.

I have read every post on this thread as I have the exact same issue as the OP, except my tractor/trailer will gross ~10k pounds. My search began some months ago and I had it in my mind I wanted a used diesel, as Ford had a lot of reasonably priced 6.0L F250s with moderate miles on them. But a lot of further investigation scared me away from non 7.3L Ford diesels, new or used for many reasons. And I wanted a newer year model then a 7.3 would provide. I also looked at Dodge and GM but kept coming back to Ford for various reasons

I then decided on a used, moderate mileage F250 with a 6.2L gasoline engine and responded to a one year old thread on TBN about the 6.2s and wanted an update on gas mileage and reliability. A number of responses came from F150 3.5L TT owners praising the virtues of this engine, loaded and unloaded. Previously I never would have considered a small displacement "truck" engine, but was intrigued and started investigating this combination. I do have a lot of experience with supercharged engines (turbo, roots-type and nitrous oxide).

In the end I came to the conclusion that while I really like the additional strength and real world towing ability of the F250 with better braking ability and overall better heavy load usage, the F150 3.5L TT may be a better option for me in a good, used truck.

Then I started comparing newish trucks in these two categories and found the used values of the F150s to be ~ 10% - 15% higher in my area (within 100 miles) than the F250s, similarly equipped to tow 11k - 12k pounds, 4WD with moderate other options, with the F150s harder to find with my requirements of FX4 and Max Tow. So I then decided a F250 would be the best route to take as they are basically setup stock to tow 12k pounds. Then I compared new prices of the two trucks and they were very similar, within a few hundred dollars on Ford's build-em site.

At this point I am in the middle of selling a house, trying to find a rental that will accept pets and start building our dream retirement home. I do not have much spare time for the individual dealers as I am also still clearing the home site.

After reading this thread I will investigate new 2015 trucks in both categories through AAA and Sam's Club buying services with the F150 having a large upper hand at this point due to its performance when unloaded, unless I can get a F250 considerably cheaper. And if they can't provide the stellar deals folks have mentioned here, I will see what the dealers are willing to offer. I am not in a hurry and am willing to fly to get the right truck and deal.

Thanks to all posters.
