So I found a F2690E with a 60" flip up deck on an auction and pulled the trigger. I got it home Wednesday, it's new to me but was listed as a 2015 model with 1800 hours. I bought it based on photos, got it home put a jump box on it and she fired right up and works as it should even got 3/4 tank of fuel.
I have been cleaning up and checking everything. I have ordered filters and fluids as I don't know when it was serviced last. The tachometer is not working. I thought I found the problem with a black ground wire broken on the connector for the speed sensor. Checked around for a replacement pigtail and got a shock. They wanted $88 for a replacement connector. I went another route and de-pinned the connector and soldered the wire back together. Problem is the Tach still doesn't work.

I forgot to mention that it came with a grass catcher but the vacuum blower is missing. Kubota is mighty proud of their parts.

Congrats on the new to you mower!
That's a quality machine well worth repairing, having many hours of life left.
IMHO, the grass catcher adds limited resale value, so if it doesn't meet your needs, you could always just scrap it.

Still trying to figure out why the tach is not working. Any ideas?

You didn't tell us how old your machine is or specific model number, but here is a diagram of the tach.

And here are some of the part numbers:
020

17215-83010 TACHOMETER

product not available CALL FOR AVAILABILITY

$532.75

item 070

1G377-59710 SENSOR(REVOLUTION)

product not available CALL FOR AVAILABILITY
$345.09

It is not clear what type of sensor it is, but typically that would be a hall effect sensor and it would be counting teeth on the flywheel.
Made sure that it is clean on the end and is adjusted the correct distance from the flywheel.

You can down load the user manual from here:

Thanks for the manual and schematic. It is a F2690E s/n 10212. I haven't had much time to check on the mower lately. I get a 0 rpm displayed when running so I assume the display is working but not getting a signal. I will investigate the speed sensor, then check wiring.

I didn't get the bar used to flip up the deck but a 2x4 works. Kind of aggravating getting it lifted. Finally backed onto on a cap block to get the wheels raised enough for the deck to clear.

Found the problem with the tach. When I re-pinned the connector, the ground that I repaired did not fully lock in place. When I plugged in the connector the ground just backed out and did not make good contact.

OK, thanks for letting us know what the fix was.

I found another broken wire. It was a white/red from the alternator to indicator panel. I have repaired it as well. It seems that both wires broke from fatigue. The speed sensor wire from adding the drive hardware for the bagger blower making a sharp bend in the wire and the alternator from not being tied off to support the weight of the wire at the connector coming straight out then down.
