F3060 2 Micron Racor installation

Aluminum must be fine to use since manufacturers use it in places where there is Diesel fuel.

I also remember having read something about galvanized fittings & Diesel fuel not being good combination so I've used brass fittings over the years.

For me 55 gallons usually will last 10 months, whereas some of you guys can probably use it up in one day...

Do you take your pump off to fill your barrel?

I use around 1000gals of Diesel a year in 3 JD tractors & 2 Lawnmowers.

I have in the past but not anymore - there is another bung opening on the opposite side so I just remove the bung and refill the drum with otherwise identical pump, which has a flexible suction hose.

I have to say even though there are 2 filters in the fuel line on my 2880, the 2 micron Racor is still trapping stuff. Left the 2 filters intact btw.

So you have a second barrel and you haul diesel in it and then transfer it to your refueling station barrel?

I used Four 55gal barrels but it was a real PITA loading them up, hauling 15 miles to town then having to unload them.

I bought me a 550gal tank & let the distributor fill it up here on the farm when I get down to 100gals or so.
Simple

What I do as well but I have a 500 gallon tank I bought from my fuel supplier and it came with a pump, filter and level gage installed. I still drain off the collected stuff in the bottom 2 times a year.

I have several barrels and buy off-road dsl. when the price is low and use the pump with flexible inlet hose to pump from drums in the pickup bed to storage inside the barn. There is also a steel tank in the barn, and I usually buy enough fuel for 7-8 years at the current usage.

When properly stored it keeps easily 20 years or more - but there are separate threads here with info about that.

This works well for me being a homeowner who uses just over a drum-full a year, but others use lot more and have different needs!

Can you post a link on long term diesel storage?
