An extra two gallon antifreeze reservoir on the firewall would work for the contingency you suggested.

I would think twice on plastic tank unless it was really heavy duty fluid can get hot and wouldn't want the tank to let loose and drop hot fluid on the exhaust manifold.

I blew an lube oil line on an old pick up truck once and that hot oil went up like a blow torch.

If you live in the midwest...you may want to check out Bailey Hydraulic Cylinders Manufacturer for your hydraulics. (I just ordered from them a month ago for my log splitter hydraulics..they are reasonable) I also picked up a new 2-stage pump on E-bay for about $100-$120...just have to keep watching.
