My wife took that 'idea' to heart when I got my last tractor... I traded my beloved NH 1920 ( 33? hp ) for a NH 7610s.. ( 90ish hp ).

No lack of hp now.. just the implements are now way expensive.

Soundguy,

Its a Kioti CK20HST. I've done enough complaining about it the last 3 days or so, that I decided to get a 2nd opinion straight from Kioti.

Not 3 minutes before your posts showed up, I had just finished sending off an email to Kioti to see what they said about the issue. I had already taken it back to my dealer and he checked out the HST unit and said it was fine. But I just can't believe that it is that limited so I just emailed Kioti directly.

As I said in a thread a long time back.. it does pull strongly and saves me a bunch of manual labor, but I don't feel that it is pulling as strongly as it should. Its a power to the wheels issue much more than a raw power problem.

You can get the JD 5000n series with a loader (at least you use to be able to). This way you can get lots of power in a small package and still do your loader work. But remember, these tractors have lots of hp but narrow frames so loaders are not the best items for them. They become very tippy and you can't do much about it.

Oh but back to the topic of this thread. I would gladly sacrifice even a PROPERLY working HST unit to get that Landini. A tractor that still fits in my 2 stall barn (for work) and smallish shed (for storage), but would pull darn near anything I threw at it.

I guess I agree with the salesman in the original post... that seems like something that no other maker offers in the United States market (a CUT not limited by horsepower).

I have a little 4 inch deep ditch that runs beside my driveway... if I don't carry momentum, I can't get through it in high range even when I'm not towing or carrying anything.

Funny thing about your post is that I am a big proponent of more HP in a small package and have regularily been "flamed" for my position. I think the biggest engine in the smallest package is often (not always) but very often the most practical choice, it allows for larger PTO driven implements, and still gives the tractor a power reserve available when the going gets tough. I think a 25hp engine stuffed into the CK20 frame would be an awesome tractor, but don't say that on the Kioti board . . . and to say that the actual CK25 is too big with too small an engine will result in having a blanket thrown over your head in a dark alleyway and getting beaten about the buttox with a worn out bungee cord! But as for your conundrum with your 4" dip, that is just a pain itn the rear that you really should not have to deal with. Sorry I don't have an answer, but I like my tractors like I like my guns (small with a lot of power).

Part of your problem might be small diameter tires, the larger the tire the more traction and the better it goes over obstacles.
They have larger tires than most compacts also. The MF 3400's have 7.50x20 fronts and 13.6x28 rears and a even larger set in metric.

Okay! I went to the Landini dealer for a look-see. Even as a newbie I can see that this would be the cost-no-object tractor for me. The general build of even the smallest Mistral (40 HP) reminds me of a Case backhoe. Lots of iron. Low center of gravity, very slick. Shuttle looks fine, too, but I will not be spending 24K for a CUT.

As long as I was looking beyond the big three, I figgered why not stop TYM dealer right down the road. Hmmm.... a Kubota engine with a Massey Ferg tranny... Also looks heavier than comparable NH or Kubota... 5-year waranty? 33HP with bucket is 16K. Dang my lack of experience! I aughta bring my dear ol' dad to help me test drive.

I've been reading your posts for quite a while, and you continually state that your using your tractor the wrong way. High range is not for anything more than transporting from one spot to another. It's not for climbing hills and ditches, that's what low range is for. It's a shame to keep reading that your tractor is crap because you're not using it right.
When you're in high range and trying to go over that little ditch, you're probably also giving it full pedal which is like putting a gear tractor into it's highest gear and all of a sudden giving it full throttle and expecting it to perform at it's best. It just doesn't work that way.
In high range, if you must try going over things better suited to low range, at least ease up on the pedal and give the engine a chance to get into it's best torque stance.
I think you'll find the tractor works much better if you learn to finesse the pedal a little better.
Please take no offense at this observation, it's only that I know what the tractor can do, and I can tell how you're using it from what you type.
Give my suggestions a try and see if it's not better.
If your still having these problems, then the valve problem that has been detected in some CK20s may just be the problem. John

Just to remind you for a difference. Landini Mistral/New Holland TCE (not sold in USA) ARE NOT CUT-s. They are hardworking ag-garden tractors, and are built with similar specs like big ones. And, their serious nature appeal as only geared tractors (OK, I know that I said something heretic here, and please don't kill the messanger /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
They are powered with Yanmar engine, have external bull gear rear reduction units, position and draft sensing hydraulics.
So, their bigger price say something about their purpose.
I'm agree with everybody here that it will be nice to have one in my yard/shed for gardening...and to run around at 30 km/h as on 4-wheeler /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree, people on this board tend to overuse the CUT name. They tend to think any tractor that is small is a CUT. These tractors as well as the TN-V (that is a tiny tractor) all are made of steel and not aluminum like a cut. They have a lot of hp available and will out work any cut on the market because they are a different class tractor. Anyway, on the Mistrial no one could use the front lift here for pto equipment as it is a 1000 rpm pto and as was discussed earlier is a irrelevant pto speed for CUT buyers /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
