Price Check Fair Price for a Massey 261

My Massey 241 was made in Turkey, and I've found that pretty much any part you would normally need is available from Agco, or a number of the larger tractor parts places, but it's a few years newer than the 261. I looked at a few other models, some of which were made in Poland, and parts availability seemed decent (some models were made in more than one country). Keep in mind the Perkins engine in the 261 is pretty common, so those parts should be no problem finding from many sources.

I think as this discussion has disclosed, Massey's were built in several locations. I also think that plays an important role in researching the particular model a person is buying.

It's a shame there hasn't been better control of this brand in those regards. I've always liked the personality of the Massey tractors and as I said earlier, I've saw them all over the World.

Any reliability issues with your 241? I have looked at a 271 which I think is basically a larger version of the 241.

It's really no different than Deere making tractors in India....it's a Deere facility, just a different country. I'm sure there are outliers, but parts seem to be equally available for Massey models made in any of the three factories (U.K., Poland and Turkey) and most (if not all) of the engines were made in the U.K. AGCO has done a good job of keeping parts available from what I've seen and read.

It's been very good to me. The fuel lift pump died last year, but I got a replacement off Amazon for around $30....threw a new fuel filter on it at the same time and it's been fine ever since. I've read the lift pumps often go only 1500-2000 hours, but they're inexpensive and very easy to replace so I wasn't really bothered by it. It has lot of power, and starts really well in cold weather, which surprised me since it doesn't have glow plugs, or thermo start (Massey's term).
