Lawyer for a speeding ticket? Don't want to know why, but I've had a few doozies in my day and just paid and learned my lesson. None required a lawyer.
Good luck. I've followed your adventures in child rearing.
For the record, I don't think I've had a speeding ticket in the last 10 years. That said, when single and even married without no kids in the house, driving a lot of miles for work, I was known to have a pretty heavy foot at times on the highway.
Pleading guilty in NC to a speeding ticket will put points on your license and could affect your insurance. The key term at least in NC is "improper equipment". Pay the lawyer, don't show up for court, don't plead guilty, and it seems to magically disappear from your record (given you don't get a couple tickets a year I guess lol).
Phone call to a lawyer is free. They can give you your options and what they can do for you, and the option then becomes yours if you want to pursue it or not.
No different than buying a used car. Take it to a mechanic first to go over it in detail to see what it needs vs the asking price. Get a moving violation ticket driving? Go to a lawyer to see what options you may have to see if your screwed or if you have options.
Luckily, this boy was off his provisional license or I believe it could have been worse. Honestly, not certain, reason why I'd like to have him talk to someone familiar with NC driving laws / tickets.
My boys have definitely increased the Santa clause look in my beard and hair.
Other boy wanted to enlist in the marines. I ask him why not the Army? He tells me he doesn't want to be killed. I then ask him why not the air force like his grandfather, then he tells me there are too many gay people in the air force. He's read it up online so it has to be true.
