For 550 bones, split 2 ways I assume, I would have bought 2 truck mounted transfer tanks. Stays in your truck all the time is the draw back. The plus is you have yours and he would have his, no need for all the figuring on who used what and who owes the pot.

BTW many of neighborly friends have been lost over dealings like you speak of. Good luck with everything.

Jim and I are really good friends. We have owned a dumptruck together for 4 years. Each paid 1/2 of the purchase price, tax, title, and registration. I pay the insurance and he gives me 1/2 the money yearly. He pays for 1/2 of the tag yearly.

Each time we use the truck it comes home on full of gas. That way we are paying for our own gas.

We also share farm implements. Even though everything is there within easy reach we always call each other and say, "Hey, can I use so and so today?". The other one always says, "sure, you don't have to call go ahead and use it". Of course the next time around we call again.

When I wanted to put up a fence between part of our property (for goats) he bought the materials and then helped me install the fence.

Now if he were a relative I'd be worried.

The tank had a screw on lid that was 4" in diameter. I drilled a 2" hole in the lid and mounted a floor flange with 2" pipe threads. This is where I mounted my pump. I then mounted another 2" floor flange with pipe threads over an existing 1" hole in the tank. I put a vented fill cap on that opening. I use this opening for filling the tank.

Hi Chris,

Just a couple questions on sourcing components... I assume that the floor flanges came from standard galvanized plumbing stock? Did you weld them on? Bolt them on? Guess I shoulda looked more closely at the pictures, will go back and check.

Where did you get the vented fill cap?

Thanks,

Kurt

The floor flanges are 2" pipe flanges. I drilled holes and bolted them to the tank with 5/16" bolts. I used gasket material between the flange and the tank.

Here is a link to where I got the pump, filter kit, meter, and vented fill cap.

Got our second fill of offroad yesterday. A local supplier was coming through our area to deliver 1000 gallons to a contractor. He stopped by my house and put 140 gallons in. $2.55 a gallon or $357.00. OUCH!
He also put 140 gallons in my grandfather's tank.

I bought a 1200 litre overhead diesel fuel tank (sits about 1.8m above ground on a stand), used for $150. New they sell for $5500!!! Just going about the process of cleaning it, painting it, putting new fittings/filters etc before putting it into use for the tractor and LandCruiser 200 series. Will post pics when done.

Are you going to be using off road or HHO?
