Farm Fuel Tank Ideas

I've lived on a 200 acre truck farm all my life. I currently have 20 acres of corn planted and several acres of pumpkins. I raise Boer Goats and custom finish Hogs.

Notice the title of the thread is "FARM FUEL TANK IDEAS".

I've never done this, but your now on my ignore list.

I, for one, like your fueling station. I think it was a great idea. I've been toying with the idea of removing the second tank (duel 50s) off my digger derrick truck to do the same thing. The tank looks identical to the one you got but only 1/3 the size.

I need to learn about raising hogs. I currently custom feed cattle and sell 1/4s & 1/2s. I eventually want to get into hogs as well.

Back on the topic of actual fuel tanks, Here's one that i just finished up. 125 gallon saddle tank sitting on a steel cradle with a 12v 13gpm pump. Put a 2 wire plug on the pump and wired all of my equipment with corresponding plugs to make powering it up easy.

I bought a 1200 litre overhead diesel fuel tank (sits about 1.8m above ground on a stand), used for $150. New they sell for $5500!!! Just going about the process of cleaning it, painting it, putting new fittings/filters etc before putting it into use for the tractor and LandCruiser 200 series. Will post pics when done.

I just bought 200 gal of diesel fuel today, last year at this time I paid $1.66/gal., this year the price will be $2.64/gal. Quite a jump.

I filled up this week; diesel here cost $1.18/litre (1 Aussie dollar equals 93US cents), and a litre is 1.05 quarts.

A liter is slightly more than a quart (not less, 1 liter = 1.05668821 US quarts)

Good looking tank. I inquired about one of those, but they wanted way too much money for it. $250.00 I think. The steel tank does fine and I didn't have to build a saddle to put it in. I just strapped it to a pallet.

I bought the same pump as you.

No problem. I paid $2.59 a gallon for the first tank. $388.00. Jim and I split the first tank ($194.00 each). So far I have used 90 gallons and he's used 35 gallons. It's about time to pay the pot and refill the tank.

What I really like about the meter on the Fil-rite pump is the running meter at the bottom. When we bought the meter and pump the meter was on 25 gallons (from testing). Now it's on 150. We know we've used 125 gallons.
We have a notebook that we write down the date, gallons used, and our name each time we fill our tractors out of the tank.

I've been preparing ground to plant corn and pumpkins. When grass cutting season begins he'll use about the same amount as I do. He cuts about 5 acres weekly with an L5030 cab Kubota and finish mower.
