it is loosing some coolent along the way. Yesterday afternoon i did some work with it and watched it to make sure i did not get it too hot. I came out of the garden and parked in the drive way in the shade. When i turned it off it started to pour coolent out of the over flow hose. and it was in the 90 range when i turned it off. I checked the oil no water. now oil in the water that i can find. I think it is loosing some coolent around a gasket near the pump. maybe the pump is bad or clogged up. Any ideas?????????????????????????????????

Thanks for all the HELP
Daniel

There are typically only two places for a water pump to leak; right at the gasket where it's bolted to the engine, or past the shaft that the fan's bolted to. Usually it's the latter. If it's the first one however, simply replace the gasket. If it's the 2nd one, replace the pump. If neither, check the radiator fins for blockage (weed seeds/chaff/dirt) - with particular emphasis on those fins behind the battery. It may be necessary to remove the radiator to clear stubborn blockage.

i am sure it is gasket between the pump and motor. So i guess i will just replace the pump.

Maybe you read my response wrong. If the leak is between the pump and the engine, you need only replace the gasket. Only if it's leaking through the seal around the shaft that turns the fan should it be necessary to replace the pump.
