I've been reading the threads on this site for weeks and just haven't taken the time to jump in. But after reading your post concerning purchasing a tractor in Mattoon, IL I figured this was as good a time as any. I live about an hour north of Mattoon and have visited the Rural King store there just to take a look at their tractors. I've been thinking about buying a compact tractor off and on for a number of years but just couldn't bring myself to part with that much money. Then I found out about these Chinese tractors and started reading up on them in forums like this one. I'm getting off track. A month or so ago I ran across an ad run by a guy in Springfield, IL who was selling Farm Pro. I drove the 45 minutes one weekend to see what he had and talk price. Long story short, if your going to drive to Illinois to buy a tractor, I'd advise you to stop in Springfield and see this guy. I think you could save some money. If you want his contact info just email me. I'm sure glad I didn't have to drive 1,000 miles to get mine.

So Tom, did you ever purchase a tractor yet? What did you get or why didn't you get it.

Hi,

Well, biting the bullet this weekend. This is the Thanksgiving weekend up here so coming down so gives me 3 days off work.

Works out that I am picking up a JM2004 for about the same price as a Farm Pro or Rural King. Well, bit more but not that much.

Been quite the experience but well worth it. Great bunch of folks on this board. Will let you know how it works out after the weekend.

Thanks for all your help.

Also read up on Greg's advice on Flushing and do as he recommends, it may save you a lot of grief.

Hey Tom,

Hope all goes well. If you don't allready have a trailer to haul your tractor, you could rent one of the car haulers from UHaul. The kind that completely carries the vehicle off of the ground.

Make it an adventure /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Get your tractors running &
Have a nice day,

Hi All,

Buddy has a diesel pick up and trailer so we are going to take our time and kinda make a weekend out of it.

When I get it back, is lightly used, will flush all the fluids anyways and just generally mess about on it to figure it all out.

Take care and thanks for the best wishes.

Hi All,

Well got my Jinma and got it home. Back blade and rough cut also. Was in kind of a hurry to get back and try it out in my own back yard. No problems at border as long as I paid the tax but they would even take plastic for that.
Great time down there. Learned everything I could while there and then forgot most of it in my excitement. Played with it most of the day yesterday and the guy who went with me was just drooling at it. Think he loves it more than I do. Raining today and tonite so can't play today but must admit I am really happy overall.
Will have bunch of questions as I go along but what the hey, that is what learning is all about. No such thing as a stupid question if you don't know the answer.

Take care, thanks for the help and kind thoughts.

Later

Glad to hear that your Jinma trip was a success.

Enjoy your machine.

Hey Tom,

Glad everything went well. Sounds like you made a nice adventure out of your trip.

Which tractor did you finally decide on?

Be sure to check all fluid levels, especially the creeper gear reservoir, if you got the creeper gear box.

A tractor can be one of your very best friends, and it is always, right there waiting on you where you parked it last.

Have a nice day,
