Farmall 140 Questions?

In the next week or so I should be picking up a 1967 or so Farmall 140.

It has a 5 ft belly finishing mower.

I was planning to use it to cut the fields and grass at my house, but was also wondering what kind of other work this tractor can do....

Specifically, has anyone fabricated, or can a snow plow be bought for these tractors?

Are there PTO driven leaf clean-up attachments (I don't know what else to call them)?

How much HP do these tractors have?

A front blade could be had for them. It was non-angling, but I am sure that with some work it could be.

There are other forums that deal specifically with older iron. Try http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/boards.cgi. PS, the Farmall 140 has a 123 ci engine that puts out about 24ish HP. You will lose traction long before you run out of engine, assuming that the engine is running well and is tuned to spec. Farmall 140s are still being used in truck farming/tobacco farms in the southeast. Great little tractor. Bobg in VA

I've always wanted a cub, but this 140 seems like a deal and has been well taken care of.

200 bucks extra for a brushhog? is that good deal?
(I don't really have big use for it, but it seems like a deal)

Does the brush hog work on the 140 ? If and in decent shape , a good deal. 140, do not have standard lift and PT) set up in the rear, so not just any hog will work with one.

Farmall 140.....nice tractor.....grew up driving one.We had a single plow/discs/buzz saw/front blade/side mower with ours all International red,implements and everything. It even had a hand crank in case the battery was low on charge.

Is it possible the the the PTO and lift were converted?
I know the guy said that it will drive anything that is standard PTO...

Possibly, but the ones I have seen have the PTO offset to the left (facing forward). Lift conversions are available for it.

They are nice little tractors, thinking of buying one myself, a neighbor is selling his 140. And if he does not want too much for it ...........

I bet that he was referring to it having a standard size and spline PTO shaft.

Yes the size speed (540) and spline configuration of the PTO output shaft on the 140 is standard, the location is a bit strange though.
I do not believe that the PTO has a seperate clutch and will require an overrun coupler (cheap).
