Farmall 75A vs 75C

I just took delivery of a 75A cabbed tractor w/ loader about 4 weeks ago. Most of my tractor work will be with a rotary cutter, and it's been too wet to start, so I've only put about 5 hours on it so far. I looked at the C and the A, and couldn't find any reason to spend more money on the C considering my use. In the short time I have on it already, the only things I'd improve if given a chance would be the speed of the loader, and the turning radius. It's a big tractor, and 4wd, so the turning radius was to be expected. I'm unfairly comparing it to most of the other tractors I've ever used which have either been smaller, or if similar sized, 2WD. Not a lot different than comparing trucks in that regards.

On the loader, I don't notice the up/down speed being slow as much as I notice the bucket dump/curl being slow. Again, it could be an unfair comparison as most of my previous loader experience is with backhoes.

Other than these two items, so far I really like everything else about it. I have the air ride seat and it is very comfortable. All the controls are well placed. Visibility is great. So much glass around the cab- it's easy to see everything.

I just bought a 75A, picking it up tomorrow morning. Thanks for all of the feedback. I agree, hard to see much difference between the A and C. I got the one with the package that includes most everything. My 'big' tractor is 55HP HST and it wasn't cutting it with the 78" pull harrow with 28 discs. It would go OK in L (3 mph), too slow for effective discing. In M any incline or heavier dirt would cause a near stall. The HST tractors are great for mowing, loader work and orchard spraying, but are poor for ground engagement.

Picked up this morning, got home, scanned the manual, took all of the plastic out of the cab and went to work discing. What an upgrade in every possible way from the CUT's. Plus dealers have parts and if I'm unlucky and it needs service, there's a good chance the dealer will know what he is doing.

Finally got to do some mowing yesterday. Here are my thoughts on the 75A after about 3 hours of cutting- The cab is quiet. Even with the motor running at 2,000 rpm and the cutter turning, the a/c blower is the loudest thing you hear. And it's a good thing it's efficient. The cab has so much glass, it's a hot box without the A/C. Hope it never gives trouble.

The power shuttle is awesome. Most of my tractor use in the past has been traditional transmissions, along with some HST in compacts, but this is my favorite, at least for this use. Very smooth and perfectly placed controls. I used mid range 1 and 2 most of the time. I could have mowed with a faster ground speed, but this was the first time I've mowed this place, so I wanted to take it slow. Plus the grass (mostly fescue) was about 3' tall.

I mentioned the glass and said before the visibility is good- I'm still impressed, but the one place that's a little hard seeing is the outside edge of the front right tire. Due to the hydraulic connections for the loader, there's a narrow gap you have the look through to watch your track. Not bad, but when everything else is so openly visible, it's noticeably restrictive.

The buddy seat let my little buddy ride around a little too. His favorite thing on the tractor is the radio.
