Farmi 501 Logging Winch & Snatch Block

Just thought I'd post a few pictures of our Farmi 501 winch in action. It is mounted on a Ford / NH 2120. We are only pulling one or 2 large oaks at a time since my son Jim was doing the pulling. Normally I would be pulling 6-8 of the tree size shown. The Farmi winch pulls at over 11,000 # and has 165 feet of cable. The blade digs in well to hold the tractor and also is used as a plow to fill in ruts and move snow.

Note the plastic chain saw bar guard that slips into the slot on either side of the winch to carry a chain saw.

This attachment is the self releasing snatch block from Farmi. It allows you to pull at an angle toward a tree and then when the chain hook hits the snatch block it "falls" off and the log changes direction toward the tractor. Very useful as many times you can't get a straight pull toward the tractor.

I've got the same tractor/loader/winch setup as you. The only thing I lack is a son to help, I bet that's the handiest attachment of all. I've worked it pretty hard this winter, and I'm finding the cable is getting some bends in it from the way it rolls up and crosses itself. Except for a little winch on the front of my four wheeler this is my first so I'm not sure if that is normal or should I be pulling the cable out and rewinding under load more often to avoid this? It sure is a handy tool and I still plan on mounting a hitch to it when the weather warms up a little.

You've got it... rewind under a load often to avoid kinking the cable.

Don't go near it with a full regular load on, if it snaps, it will not be pretty... As with any pulling, hoisting, or winching, Be Safe so you can come to the forum and tell us about your latest tractor adventure.
