Hey Blisterbug,

You might try JinmaParts.com if it is for a Jinma.

Have a nice day,

( I installed a rain cap on mine 50 hrs ago. There is a little soot around the hinge, but other than that no difference than the original curved pipe. )
Agreed. But I was referring to the cap not letting condensation get out of a non-running engine. The pipe will (should) be warm, then you shut down the engine, the flap comes down, the pipe cools down, condensation forms, collects in the elbow, and blows wet stuff out next time you fire up the engine.

You have 50 working hours on an engine that reaches proper operating temps. Hank's got what now turns out to be only one hour on a new cap, and idling a tractor with a 57C thermostat. Big BIG difference.

Hank - even with an 80C thermostat, you'll never get a diesel up to operating temp by letting it idle from cold. Especially in the winter.

All of what you say is correct Greg. Condensation could be a real problem especially if the tractor si stored outdoors. Mine gets babied a little being stored in a warm and dry garage area.

Your also right about the 80C thermostat. Mine is an 80C and it will get up to about 60C at idle, but I have to be using it to get it to full temperature.

Sounds about right for a TY395 engine. The governors seem
to be set to slighty over fueled. When cold and or spooling
up they all smoke pretty respectfully..

Thanks all for all your advice really appreciated.
Won't concern myself for the time being and leave well enough alone for now. It starts easy enough even in sub zero weather so I guess things can't be to bad

A northeaster is brewing up for tonight so perhaps tomorrow I'll be able to put it to work and see how it performs pushing some snow around. Gads, I wish this winter was over!

Graham, how are you set for backhoes? Can you install one on my tractor come spring? 2430 w/Koyker 160 FEL.

Hey Hank

Yes they do start well in the cold, better than the Y385
in fact. I have (2) Hoes left from this load. I could install a
160/Hoe on your tractor but I'd probably have to order and install
a slotted shaft and pump mounting block if it is not BackHoe
ready. I don't know if FarmPros are defaulted that way. I order
all my tractor B/H ready but!!! Worst case I order the whole
enchilada from the factory LCL... No big deal either way..
Yeah I just can't wait to see how much snow I need to "move"
to get out tomorrow. Haven't had the pto blower off my 284
since christmas... Where are you BTW??

Regards
Graham

Hi Graham,

I'm in Eastern MA. Haverhill.
Looks like this storm was a dud (great!) contrary to the forcasts looks like the south shore took the brunt of this one again. only got about 7" rather then the 14" they were forcating.

I'm not sure if my tractor is defaulted for backhoe application, for that matter I would not even know what to look for. If you could give me a clue I can take a look at it to check.

Hope you didn't get to badly whacked with this snow storm!

BTW how long would it take to install a backhoe?

Stay warm,
HankC

Yeah we did get skunked didn't we.. Kind of bummed actually,
I was looking forward to one last "blast" with the pto
snowblower. Always amazed at what a 284 with an attitude
can do with that blower. Oh well always next year.. To check
your tractor there are 2 basic areas to look at. Look for a
plate above the pto tail shaft. Remove the cover plate. and
check for the slotted shaft . The slot drives the pump. No slot
and the shaft has to be replaced. Also check for a (4) bolt cast
iron mounting block for the pumps. Time, maybe 2 weeks.
I fold it in to other jobs.Haverhill's just around the corner so
no problem..

Well Graham,
Winter is not over yet and afterall this is New England so you may still get your "last" storm before this is over.

Visually checked the tractor, no 4 hole plate and therefore I'm assuming no slotted shaft. If I take the cover plate off will oil drain out?

At any rate I'll contact you by e-mail to work out the details. Still need to work on my trailer and truck before I will be able to get it out to you.

Will this tractor have sufficient capability to handle the backhoe?
