That makes sense. I see from the spec sheets the Montana 2740 comes with bigger tires than the Farmtrac 270. I prefer the smaller tires for maneuvering in tight confines and for entering my 8' garage door as I have the fixed ROPS. When switching the tires around I guess the size ratio between front and rear would be the same for the 4WD? I have been wanting to measure the circumference of front and rear tires on mine and determine the ratio between the two. I'm assuming it would have to be pretty close across all the tire options available?

Am I correct in understanding that you can order the FarmTracs directly from the manufacturer without going thru a dealer ??

As I understand it, Farmtrac has a "company store" in Tarboro.

Some truth there...

"Officially" the corporate store is Long Tractors in Tarboro, NC but it actually has nothing to do with FarmTrac NA. In other words if you called FarmTrac directly and wanted to purchase a tractor from them and come pick it up they would give you their number...but they pay the same for their tractors that we do. They are a standard dealer and don't get any special pricing, etc. However, FarmTrac tries to steer customers toward their local dealer.

So in reality the answer is no that you cannot order direct from Farmtrac, they really protect their dealers (all dealers pay same freight, so the guy in Tarboro pays the same I do for tractors). I think the confusion may have come from the discussion of tires choices on the "3" series compacts and that you can order a 3-series with an oversized tire option that most customers don't know about but is well worth the extra money IMHO. Hope that clears things up.

John, what type of tires are you referring to? The Montana spec sheet available online only displays "standard" (ag) tire size (6.0 x 14 front, 9.5 x 24 rear) and these appears to be identical in size to the ag tires available on 270DTC per Farmtrac specifications sheet available on the Farmtrac site.

Don't you have industrial (R4) tires on your 270? Are you saying that the industrial (R4) tires available on the Montana 2740 are larger than those that came on your 270? If yes, I am curious how you were able to determine that the Montana's are larger.

I am currently trying to do an apples to apples ('tana vs. Farmtrac) and could use all of the help I can get. Thanks.

CT, The Montana brochure I was looking at listed the 2740 and 3240 as having the same size tires as the larger Mitsu powered models. I don't have the brochure handy for the size, perhaps check their website.

John, it appears that you are correct. I have looked at a number of Farmtrac 270DTCs and Montana 2740s and the industrial tires that come standard with each of the Montanas that I have seen are larger than those on the Farmtrac.
